RE: Failure in Capturing an image
I removed the VM screenshot and just focusing on the physical devices currently.
Capturing is broken from something (not sure, Tom has made some customization to a script and added a post-init).

Failure in Capturing an image
Started working on the Linux side of the Fog-Client and quickly got that working. Ran a capture task on the Linux side to then create a new golden image of updates + Fog-Client functioning.
It would reboot, boot into Fog and then quit without capturing the image but would clear the task in the queue. I am doing this remotely so I started a virtualized VM of the exact original captured image I got before making direct changes to the Fog-Project server with customization of scripts.
Deploying an image is fine on a Mac & on Linux (VM currently, out of the office when running these tests but I am assuming the same issue is happening.
When sending a capture task to a Linux based machine I am getting the following:
I am not sure if a Mac is doing the same issue. Although my disk for Linux is resizable and is ‘Single Disk’.
This worked before changes were made to the post-init script. Any idea?
See the below:
Got into the office this morning, when capturing on MacOSX:
Looking like it pushes wrong flags to the partclone.exe
Not sure what is going on but deploying an image works perfectly fine.

RE: Linux on nvme drive: Failed to read back partitions (runPartProbe)
@Tom-Elliott This did resolve the issue.

RE: Exit boot options
I was editing the wrong refind.conf file in another location.
/var/www/fog/service/ipxe/refind.conf
vs my other refind.conf for Macs chainloader
/tftpboot/fog/refind.conf

Exit boot options
Hello!
I have solidified the functionality on Macs at my office environment and now I am moving onto migrating our Linux workstations.
When I boot into FOG and no task is scheduled, it then boots into the hard drive.
Although this is where the issue is.
When FOG exits with the Host BIOS/EFI Exit:
- Type of “GRUB” grub.exe … ok | Could not boot: Exec format error)
- Type of “SANBOOT”: “Boot from SAN device failed” (expected)
- Type of “GRUB_FIRST_HDD”: grub.exe … ok | Could not boot: Exec format error)
- Type of “GRUB_FIRST_CDROM”: grub.exe … ok | Could not boot: Exec format error)
- Type of “GRUB_FIRST_WINDOWS”: grub.exe … ok | Could not boot: Exec format error)
- Type of “REFIND_EFI”: Boots into rEFInd fine, but this is being used for Macs with a default_selection 3.
** When I attempt to usedefault_selection "Boot Fallback,3"
ordefault_selection Fallback,3
or any mixture of it to change the selection it does not auto-select in order but always selections option 3 (which MacOS are using) - Type of “EXIT”: Chainloading fails and I am thrown back to iPXE shell which results in a bootloop.
What am I doing incorrectly on my refind.conf for it to not select the proper ordered default_selection options I have entered? I wish to have it boot either option
I have attached the refind bootscreen for reference, it is highlighting “4” as I have to hit the down arrow to stop the autoboot timer.

RE: Linux on nvme drive: Failed to read back partitions (runPartProbe)
I have downloaded it and will try it in the office tomorrow.

RE: Linux on nvme drive: Failed to read back partitions (runPartProbe)
This is a Dell Aurora7 (R7) desktop with an nvme drive, I have flashed back to this device before and it worked perfectly.
the lsblk command shows the following:
sda - 1TB drive for storage but had ubuntu installed on it before.
nvme0n1 - Ubuntu Boot
nvme0n1p1 - grub I am assuming
nvme0n1p2 - boot partition for Ubuntu 18.04LTS -
Linux on nvme drive: Failed to read back partitions (runPartProbe)

RE: Mac OSX: Upon capture OR clone completion, task does not self remove in WebUI.
@ismith-hpu
@Tom-Elliott provided this hotfix solution as “To clarify, this will fix for any RAW imaging types.”:run:
wget -O /images/dev/postinitscripts/funcs.sh https://raw.githubusercontent.com/FOGProject/fos/master/Buildroot/board/FOG/FOS/rootfs_overlay/usr/share/fog/lib/funcs.sh
Add to /images/dev/postinitscripts/fog.postinit:
cp ${postinitpath}funcs.sh /usr/share/fog/lib/funcs.sh
This will fix for Macs

RE: Mac OSX: Upon capture OR clone completion, task does not self remove in WebUI.
Yes same explanation from the past thread from https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/11911/failed-to-read-back-partitions-runpartprobe
But this is a single disk on an iMac, it writes 100% fine and there are no problems when booting.

RE: Mac OSX: Upon capture OR clone completion, task does not self remove in WebUI.
Will do, it writes the image completely and it works fine after I manually shut it off.
-
FogWeb: Selecting delete image in the Images submenu does not free space.
Having to delete the folder manually via SSH, rm -fdr /images/<imagename>
-
Mac OSX: Upon capture OR clone completion, task does not self remove in WebUI.
Upon capture OR clone completion, task does not self remove in WebUI.
It also does not write ‘last successful image date’ under hosts.
Additionally, with this when cloning or imaging it will loop forever.

I am at this specific point with regards to attempting to download the cert.
