Seem to be having the hardware inventory issue again when registering new hosts. Here is mysql output for the machine in question.

Also, it adds the host to the GUI after registration, but when i boot into the menu from iPXE, it comes up with the main screen saying “Host is NOT registered”. I checked the MAC addresses to make sure they matched up so I know that it should be looking for the correct machine.

      Thanks!

@Tom-Elliott It happened yesterday after installing the latest working branch. However I updated again this morning at about 8:00am EDT and still have it. I can try again to check.

@Tom-Elliott I should note that when i click on the graph area, the hardware screen comes up and it accurately reflects disk space available on the storage node. Just doesn’t seem to display correctly on the GUI.

    • After Updating, Storage Node Disk Usage Graph is missing

      Hello,

After my latest update to working, the storage node disk usage graph is missing. I’m wondering if there is any new config file for storage nodes that may have been added, since I modified my fog settings file to use a dns name instead of the IP. I thought maybe it filled in the dns name as the location for the storage instead of the IP. On the GUI, the master node is set as the IP, so that should be fine.

    • RE: FOG 1.50 New host hardware registration

@Sebastian-Roth @Tom-Elliott Here are my two captures. One is of the GUI page, the other is of mysql entry for the selected host. The mysql is kind of messy, but I couldn’t find a way to print out the report on one line. 1_1501070412057_mysqlCapture.jpg 0_1501070412057_GUICapture.jpg

Also, I don’t think it’s an isolated incident, since I had this also happen on a second setup that is on an isolated network with no firewall.

      Thanks!

Looks like when registering a new host, using the ‘Full Registration and Inventory’ option registers the host and hardware tags, but leaves the rest of the fields in the inventory screen on the FOG GUI blank. When re-sending a hardware inventory task, then all of the fields fill in on the GUI. This was an issue in RC-1 and 2 as well.

    • RE: Custom SSL Certificate with Fog Client Service

@Sebastian-Roth My FOG server’s web GUI is using the custom SSL certificate. I couldn’t figure out how to edit the client in order to also use that certificate. I did find though that if you are forcing https on the server, you also have to force https on the clients, otherwise it won’t connect. I would love to just use the one certificate, private key, and chain.pem file to work with the client and GUI together, but editing the client was a bit above my knowledge.

The only downside of doing this the way that I’m doing it is that every time i update the server, i have to replace the 001-fog.conf file in the etc/apache2/sites-enabled/ folder with one that points to my custom certificate files.

    • RE: Custom SSL Certificate with Fog Client Service

I ended up getting it to work. The issue was that instead of keeping the new certificate and key files in a separate place, i copied them in and replaced the old private key with my new one. This set off all kinds of issues. I ended up recreating the keys and CA, and then left my certificate files in a separate folder, just for the web server to access. Then you also need to make sure that the fog client is installed using the https switch.

    • RE: Custom SSL Certificate with Fog Client Service

      Hi Wayne,

Thanks for replying. So from what I understand, I place the certificate, chain and key into the www/var/fog/management/other/ subfolder, then updated the apache fog site config to point to those certificates. Then I just need to rerun this script? Or do I need to edit this script to point to the new certificates? Is there another place that the certificates need to be updated separately of the web server section?

      Thanks!

    • Custom SSL Certificate with Fog Client Service

      Hello,

Recently, I purchased an SSL certificate from GoDaddy, for use with a few of the servers that I manage. I’ve gotten the certificate to work with the web server portion of FOG, but I’m trying to figure out how to get it to work with the fog client so that i can continue to send snapins and printers. When using the GoDaddy certificate, i get an error from the fog client stating that the CA is not a FOG CA.

      Thanks for any help.

    • RE: mySQL information

I have all of those enabled and don’t use dnsmasq, so it looks to be more like a server config issue. Here are the screenshots of the process.

I have a little experience from messing with terminal in the past, so with some guidance I should be able to do it.

Also forgot to mention, running 1.4.0 RC 3 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Also the firewall is currently disabled, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

    • RE: mySQL information

Sorry about that. It is a basic installation. The only storage is on the FOG server itself. It only needs the clients to be able to reach it, and deploy images and snapins. It uses the companies DNS/DHCP routers, and clients are pointed to the server using a bootable iPXE usb. I’ve made sure that NFS, FTP and portmap are all enabled through the routers, but it still hangs on the init scripts portion, before failing to mount the filesystem. So I was curious if not enabling mySQL access had anything to do with that.

    • mySQL information

      Hello,

I’m looking to setup a FOG server for imaging purposes within a network. I have been in communication with the network guys at my company, and they have been opening ports for me to use the service. One they are hesitant to open for my use is the mySQL port because the transfer of data on that port isn’t very secure. What tasks is this port actually used for? I’ve been able to do hardware inventories without it open, but i haven’t been able to capture an image for deployment.

      Thanks
