Hmm i see, But i already tried that. I also try with different images and pc’s to upload an then, re-deploy. The upload works properly, but the deployment doesn’t.

in case i can’t solve the problem, I’m looking forward to install a new fog server with 0.33 and make a standard config for the server, and backup it every weeks. Wich system and version do you recommend?
Ubuntu 10, 11, 12 ?
Debian 6, 7 ?
RH …
Fred,

When you updated ubuntu, did nfs-common or nfs-kernel-server get updated as well?

When you performed the updates, did you restart your system, or just update and keep going?
Well, i think that the nfs-kernel-server was updated because no-one for 1 year looked at this server. I was in charge of that but now i’m working in another company.

Of corse, i restarted the server, it causes some error on disk (it’s a vm) an i fixed that on ubuntu boot menu.
After that, it restarts correctly and fog is running. Otherwise the deploy function stops always after some time with the error.

Regards,
Fred

Hi Travis,

I’m just sharing that i have the same problem like the others that no one can resolve. I’m always trying to solve this but without success for now.

I have updated the Ubuntu (security updates, …) an then i can upload a new image, but not deploy it because after some time deploying the new image, it stops with following error:
“Can’t read the following volume file”

When i said, “getting this error now” i’m saying that i have the error mentioned in this post. Because before this error i had some others errors, and i solved them. With this one i’m blocking.

Getting this error now…
After a Ubuntu Update. The image starts deployement and then it stops at 17% - 80% on different image files.

To get fog working what’s the trick? (never update ubuntu?)

Trying to solve issue… if anyone can help… thanks in advance!

Well, before i had problems uploading an image, before the disk check i had a problem with the error something like “Unable to connect to ftp” then in a forum on the web someone said to delete and recreate the storage nodes & groups this was what i did. Then trying to test and upload an image, after task acceptation it said “Unable to located master node from storage group”. Can’t say if master node can see storage.

• Fog Management Page is Blank

Hi gents,

Hi recently installed a new Fog on a Ubuntu 12.10.
After i installed all things and build my database, i try to “wake up” a machine but at the task acceptaion page, the page is empty, only with the title, the rest is blank.

Anyone have an idea? Maybe it is the php version of ubuntu 12.10?

Hope you can help me with that!

Ps: Thanks Guys for the Fog Project! (again)

Thanks,
Hi Fred, the host auto-register feature was discontinued in version .29(I think) You will want to manually register them or import the hostnames/MAC addresses from a file.
Hmmm strange, normally the good features continue and being developped.

Well i will try to do the job extracting some .csv’s for our multiple dhcp servers 😕

Thanks anyway. Also new replys are welcome to recommend a tool or something.

Thanks,

• Fog Client error (not contacting fog server)

Hello,

I installed FOG at Office a few weeks ago to respond to a mass PC deployement quickly.
Today, we will use FOG “officially” at the office, so we want to deploy the fog client on users pc’s by gpo or a kixtart on logon. (For that here it’s not a problem)

So i installed fog client on some local PC’s in my domain to see the “auto-register” feature working, but the PC’s are not contacting Fog server to register that ones.

So, my FOG server is installed on a virtual-box vm with the hostname “fogserver”.

So i found a trouble at the host registration step. I tryed lot of different settings in fog, but it’s always the same,

Hre you can see the fog.log of a client PC.

• Change fog Language

Hello,

I’m using fog 0.32 in my work. It’s working very well for all pc’s at moment, we got some errors with dell’s e6420 but it works. Congrats to the fog guys!

Well, during the installation i don’t installed the language packs. So i want to know if it’s possible and how to install language pack “now”. The application is running, is that possible to upgrade this?

Because we are in France and the people that will use the app are French.

Thank you in advance for the response!
