‘Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix’

      you can download it here

note that you can do what I said via commands but webmin is a pretty neat tool for servers without a gui

    • Host Management

Would like to request for another field in the Host Management page of each host, where we can type in the Host Location.

What do people think? …just athought that it could help with reports

    • RE: Reports

you could use MS Access and connect to the mysql DB on FOG and do custom reporting that way. that what we are doing
The inventory report is built from the inventory table, which is populated by running a full-inventory task on your hosts. This is done when selecting Full Inventory and Registration from the boot menu on new hosts, and can be queued from the FOG console for existing hosts.
I have only ever used quick host inventory and my Inventory Report has all PC/LAPTOPS in with all the information ie: name, make, model, processor, serial, ram, os, etc.

    • RE: Windows 7 - Image Deployment - Stuck at Black Screen

with 3 partitions it wont work, only 1. a single partition windows install. 2. (the MS default) 2 partition windows install will work with single partition image uploads.

fog doesn’t play well with manufacturer recovery partitions. always best to do fresh cd install. also you wont need recovery partition with fog

not what I use anymore, but it works well. I now use a more ‘suited to my needs’ simpler solution myself. but still use vbox to create Universal image for multiple hardware

    • RE: Windows 7 - Image Deployment - Stuck at Black Screen

just to recap, you installed windows 7 and it ended up with 100mb + rest of drive as 2nd partition (os, 😄 drive)

this is how I install windows 7, but in the Image Definition settings I use the single partition image

    • RE: Windows 7 - Image Deployment - Stuck at Black Screen

yeah with virtual box just snapshot as you make changes, and pre-uploading the image. you can even let it reboot and sysprep etc as if you have deployed it (without the time of uploading it). if no errors great roll back to last snapshot and final prep and upload

    • RE: Windows 7 - Image Deployment - Stuck at Black Screen

may I recommend that you install virtualbox, and install windows 7 in there. it has snapshot features that make testing images a breeze and rather less time consuming. see tutorial section 🙂

as for the issue at hand i have not seen it myself. did you sysprep at all or only fogprep?

    • RE: Adding more internal HDD or a NAS for aditional storage

whilst I have not done this myself at work, and only have it on a dsktop. my home setup is raid 10, so will vouch for Kevins post and say a hardware raid 10 setup with two linked gig ports is the ultimate setup
