also note that you shouldn’t upgrade the virtual hardware of your vms as you will not be able to edit there settings as you need the vshpere web client (paid)
I’ve got a new kernel based on the core config for 3.10.7

I don’t have a lot of hardware to test on, so please test.

      It can be downloaded from:

      https://mastacontrola.com/fogboot/kernel/bzImage
      OR
      wget --no-check-certificate http://mastacontrola.com/fogboot/kernel/bzImage
I can test this monday, thanks

    • RE: Windows UI
This might sound silly, however, i think fog needs a windows client that can be installed on the admins computer and used to control fog.

i know there is a web ui and that is cross platform etc, but there needs to be more information added to the ui and it needs to look the part.
I disagree on the need for an Admin Control Client for Windows, but what do you feel is missing from the web ui??

    • RE: Upload win 7 image from vmware will only upload raw.
AFAIK fog cannot resize images with multiple partitions
it sure can, but only if it is the default windows 7 install (two partitions, 100mb + rest of disk for 😄 )

I have been using the default windows 7 install with single partiton re-sizable option in the fog web ui for a very long time. with a 100gb hd for the master image I have had it successfully deploying to 250gb, 500gb etc

edit: above setup is with virtualbox and FOG 0.32

    • RE: Windows 7 Deployment FOG- SAD2 Driver tool

windows should be picking up the name from its hostname as defined in FOG. (if you have the feature enabled)

if you want to change the name, change it in FOG and the pc will auto change its name.

      1. or you can disable this auto-naming feature, and login to the pc and change it that way. without it reverting back to what it is named in FOG
this was a very good tutorial… thanks for the Author…

My only concern now is that even if i change the hostname, restarted the machine and after logging in back it returns to the original hostname… what to do?
you need to change hostname via FOG web gui or disable fog renaming via FOG web ui
hi Andyroo54

when i boot a vm , the Fog Computer Cloning Solution ( to peform Registration and Inventory) just appears and booting will be directed to HDD. i test on a physical machine booting nic on FOG and it was fine.

Note that my Fog Server is also a VM (from Vsphere).

I created also vmware_user with no password but still the same.

      What could be the solution?
hi as this is not a question regarding this tutorial, can you start a new thread in the help section to keep this thread on track.

      thanks
