As far as the server it’self I am still unsure if i need my boss to spring for a server, or just get a desktop with a large capacity drive.

RE: Suggestions for new server
The volume of imaging varies quite a bit from 2 a week, to a couple hundred a week depending on the workload.

Suggestions for new server
My Fog server died that I had previously pieced together for a proof of concept and ended up just using it. I am going to be purchasing a new system for the fog server to run off of. I will be running Ubuntu 14.04 and the latest version of fog. Other than a large capacity drive for storage purposes are there any suggestions on a new machine?

RE: Version 1.2.0 released!
I was able to download the latest update using sudo wget https://sourceforge.net/projects/freeghost/files/latest/download?source=
It seemed to download fine, but don’t know where to go from there to get it installed. I am running a linux server with no GUI, and I don’t see where the update downloaded to.

RE: Could not start: download operation not supported"
Ubuntu 12.04.4
Fog .32
as far as the logs go I’m pretty new to Linux, how do I open the log file, I see it is there along with about 15 other error logs. The error i’m getting is "could not start download: operation not supported http://ipxe.org/3c092003
If I pause the system periodically it will work. I tried some of the updates from other posts, but have not seemed to help the situation.

RE: Could not start: download operation not supported"
Has there been a resolution to this at all? I am currently having the issue, I had no issues with these laptops previously HP 840 laptops. The problem started intermittently, now I can’t really get any of them to work.

RE: TFTP issues
A request that I got for the machines is that the machine cannot be booted up after imaging the laptops. I don’t know why he just said that they need to be on the domain for the laptop to be loaded up. What I did was took his sysprepped .gho image sent to me on a thumb drive and loaded one of the laptops. After loading the laptop I pulled the image off of it using fog. He just want to be sure that the laptops get shutdown after imaging not booted up to the my sysprep screen. Something there gets corrupted if the initial settings are done off of the Domain.

RE: TFTP issues
That worked out just fine. Sorry for all of the questions but I have another one. The laptops that I am imaging CANNOT be booted back up after they are imaged. Is there something in fog that I am not seeing that will shut the system down after imaging?

RE: TFTP issues
I just re-installed fog .33 and now is lloading tftp, somehow restarting the process did not fix. Now I am getting a volume not found error message. It looks like the image that I uploaded is still there and the path is correct, don’t know if a reinstall corrupted it somehow. On the client pc it showed this as an error -------volume not found /stdin.001----- that is not the image path shown in the fog gui it is under images/xxxxxxx. I will try and re-upload the image. On a side note this is my first attempt at using fog in any way. Not going so well thus far.

RE: TFTP issues
And I tried it with multiple machines to make sure it was not isolated to just one.

RE: TFTP issues
Did not change anything. It comes up establishes link gets client IP mask shows dhcp ip of my fog server shows the gateway but never gets past tftp

TFTP issues
I was able to install FOG .33 on ubuntu 13.10. I got the server all set up, able to log into the gui and pulled a image from a sysprepped windows 7 machine. After doing that PC’s will no lionger connect to the server, they just get a tftp timeout. I am not using a windows dhcp server if that helps. What would have changed or what could I check on ubuntu or fog?

RE: Browse to http://FOGSERVER/fog/client
I think the issue may have been that it was not running as root. Ran it as sudo since I cant switch user to root. after doing that the install went fine. had to do the same thing to change the password for the sql server
Which operating system did you install FOG on, and what version of FOG did you install?
I did install ubuntu 14.04 am now going back to 13.10, just in case 14.04 was too new.
I am using the instructions from this link - http://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/show/373-fog-server-install-free-opensource-ghost#commentsWhen I got to step 4 I need to install for service but the link on there goes nowhere. Are there more updated instructions?
