What is the “same error”? What are the systems, are they virtual or physical systems? I’m sorry if you’ve already answered this but it seems to me like NOTHING is working for your systems and that sounds in accurate. How are these systems failing? Are they getting the 040ee119 error or some other error? Are they freezing at initializing devices? What exactly is happening? Can you provide a screenshot?
Physical Server on an Isolated Network, running Ubuntu 14.04 and Fog 1.0.1. Able to image our Acer B113 laptops flawlessly, but when it comes to the Acer 1830T, iPXE returns the error 0x040ee119 when trying to configure net0. Its not a big issue as I still have a secondary Fog Server running 0.32 which images both Acer model laptops without a hiccup.

I figured it would be useful to operate with 1.0.1 since it’s received so much praise. The other issue I have is when trying to iPXE boot the new Lenovo Yoga Laptops, which is the main reason I decided to build a Fog 1.0.1 server in an attempt to capture and image those laptops as well, since imaging wasn’t working for them in 0.32
All with this issue:

Per suggestion from one of our Project Leads: Chuck Syperski,

I’ve rebuilt the undionly.kpxe and ipxe.kpxe with the ipxescript set as:
#!ipxe
      dhcp || reboot
      chain default.ipxe
Please try both if possible.

      They are located at:
      https://mastacontrola.com/ipxe.kpxe
      https://mastacontrola.com/undionly.kpxe

I’d recommend using the undionly.kpxe first, if that doesn’t work try the ipxe.kpxe AS your undionly.kpxe.
Sadly, both produce the same error only this time the client restarts after it fails.
The NIC (Atheros AR8131) is referring to your fog server or the client NIC that is failing?
It is the NIC on the client, not the server. Sorry for the confusion.

      Hi Seb,

Perhaps try the other files located on this thread for the same issue: http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/040ee119-error-on-boot.10493/

I currently have the same problem but others have found solutions within the files provided.
Can you be more specific on which files you’ve used? I’ve got quite a few for testing and would just like to know which you’ve tried.

For example, have you tried the undionly.kpxe in https://svn.code.sf.net/p/freeghost/code/trunk/packages/tftp/undionly.kpxe?

Have you tried the undionly.kpxe from revision 1312? Which can be found with the command:
wget -O /tftpboot/undionly.kpxe https://sourceforge.net/p/freeghost/code/1312/tree/trunk/packages/tftp/undionly.kpxe?format=raw
Is there any more information you can provide for the error(s) you’re seeing?
What I mean by this, are you getting the 040ee119 error or some other message?

Are you getting this message on multiple systems or just this Acer? What’s the NIC on that system? Has ipxe ever worked for this system?
Hi Tom,

      I have tried the following:
      https://mastacontrola.com/undionly_ROM.kpxe
      https://svn.code.sf.net/p/freeghost/code/trunk/packages/tftp/undionly.kpxe
      https://sourceforge.net/p/freeghost/code/1312/tree/trunk/packages/tftp/undionly.kpxe?format=raw

I will try these two now:
      https://mastacontrola.com/ipxe.kkkpxe
      https://mastacontrola.com/ipxe.kkpxe

Is there any more information you can provide for the error(s) you’re seeing?
      I’m getting the 040ee119 error (0x040ee119)

Are you getting this message on multiple systems or just this Acer? What’s the NIC on that system? Has ipxe ever worked for this system?
First time trying ipxe with this system, only just created a new server to try out the latest version of FOG. The NIC is the Atheros AR8131

The acer TravelMate B113 models in our fleet work flawlessly with iPXE.

My setup is Ubuntu 14.04, Fog 1.0.1 on an Isolated Network.

I was able to get past the initialising device but thats all. Once iPXE starts to load it hangs (see image.)

I also disabled USB 3.0 in bios, to try and avoid same issue mentioned in this post: http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/realtek-8153-usb-network-adapter.10302/#post-25209

Apologies couldn’t find edit button, but just wanted to also add that:

iPXE booting works fine with the other laptops in our fleet.

EDIT: Worked out how to edit my post. I’m downloading CentOS for the time being to perhaps try a different OS.

    • IPXE Boot Issue with Realtek RTL8153

      Hello Everyone,

      Ill start with my setup
      FOG Version (FOG 1.0.1)
      OS Version (Ubuntu 14.04)

I have updated the 64bit Kernel provided by the legendary Tom Elliot.

Everything works flawlessly except for the new laptops purchased by the company. The problem is with the Lenovo Yoga 12.5! It doesn’t have an Ethernet port so we purchased USB to Ethernet adapters (Realtek RTL8153 Ethernet controller) supplied by Lenovo. We are able to PXE boot the Lenovo’s with our old Ghost server but wanted to use them with FOG. The issue is that when we boot, iPXE is getting stuck on ‘iPXE Initialising Devices…’ (See attached image)

Is it possible to disable iPXE with FOG 1.0.1 so that we can PXE (which seems to work with the Lenovo’s)?
      or
Is there an easy fix to this issue so that we can utilize iPXE booting?

I appreciate any support on the issue.
I’m giving a go with some modifications of the auto.register.php file.

Please download the file attached here and place it on your 0.33b FOG Server in the /var/www/fog/service/ directory.
I replaced the file and tested. Once it gets to the attempting to register host… it just keeps returning blank lines. Now there is no host registered at all.

Thanks for all your help Tom, The change didn’t solve the issue. I just did another fresh OS install and a fresh fog install and the problem still happens. I’ll just stick to the old fog server for now. Cheers anyway.

    • RE: Latest FOG 0.33b

Sorry Tom I avoided answering the question about the IMG_ID because I’m almost 100% certain that’s not the problem. The reason I’m so confident is because after the quick registration via PXE menu, the host has the correct image ID assigned to it, which I believe to mean that its working as intended. See the attached images.

If I queue the task through the web UI, the client machine successfully images. I would like to avoid having to use the web ui as much as possible. Should I do another fresh install and try again? I already have an existing fog server running with 0.30 and ubuntu 10.04 LTS that runs fine, but i figured I would update to a newer version.
Your first method, adjusting through the web GUI is correct.

Can you provide a bit of your httpd/apache2 error log. Maybe it’s telling you what the issue is.

I only ask because, I know this works for 0.33, but am nearly certain it does for 0.32 as well. It sounds like some other issue is occuring. Maybe the IMAGE_ID Field needs to be set to the proper ID you want the quick register systems to image with?
Hi tom, thanks for sending me to the apache logs, I found the following errors:
[Thu Oct 31 13:08:54 2013] [notice] Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.3.10-1ubuntu3.8 with Suhosin-Patch configured – resuming normal operations
I have removed and re-installed fog 0.32 and 0.33b multiple times now with no success on repairing the issue, where should I go form here? I looked at the code on those lines and it is all mumbo jumbo to me.

    • RE: Latest FOG 0.33b

I added a define for FOG_QUICKREG_AUTOPOP in the config file and set the default value to 1. Still no dice. It registers the host no problem, I can also add a task to deploy the image, which works fine, but I was hoping to bypass the use of the webui to set tasks, and utilise the quick reg/image feature.
