So I’m just about done setting up my master image for Ubuntu 19.04 signage machines. But I cannot seem to get the fog client to change the hostname on boot.
The log claims users are logged in, and it can’t change the hostname. Its on a cold boot, so there shouldn’t be any users logged in yet. I’ve double checked that all of the “Hostname Changer” check boxes are selected.
I do have the machine set to automatically login. I was worried that might not be giving the client enough time to change the name before the player account logs in, so I set the account to login after a 20 second delay. no luck.
it logs into a non-sudoer player account with no password, if that makes any difference.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

8/30/2019 2:59 PM Service Sleeping for 103 seconds```
@Sebastian-Roth Well it looks like I need to pay better attention to the wiki articles. I reinstalled mono, complete this time, and I was able to push a task to the host. The Host still doesn’t show up as online within the host list on fog, but I can live with that.
Thanks again! Now I can replace a fleet of windows signage machines!
@Sebastian-Roth I replaced the .dll and restarted the service, then the machine, but still can’t see it.
There doesn’t appear to be anything saved in /opt/fogservice/fog.log and manually starting the fog service show me this:
Apr 15 13:52:39 UbuntuMaster systemd[1]: Starting FOGService...
Apr 15 13:52:39 UbuntuMaster control.sh[2450]: cat: /opt/fog-service/service.lock: No such file or directory
Apr 15 13:52:39 UbuntuMaster control.sh[2450]: starting fog-service
Apr 15 13:52:39 UbuntuMaster control.sh[2450]: /opt/fog-service/control.sh: line 24: mono-service: command not found
Apr 15 13:52:39 UbuntuMaster control.sh[2450]: fog-service started
Apr 15 13:52:39 UbuntuMaster systemd[1]: Started FOGService.
Is this telling me it can’t find mono? “which mono” tells me its installed in usr/bin/mono
I got a chance to work on this a little more. I cant see the machine in my list of hosts on the fog server, and it doesn’t look like I can push snapins or start tasks through via the fog client.
I made sure I can communicate with the server, reinstalled the client, manually started the fog service, and I didnt see any errors on the install log:
4/12/2019 1:10 PM Middleware::Communication Download: http://fogserver/fog/management/other/ca.cert.der
4/12/2019 1:10 PM Data::RSA Injecting root CA:
Is there something i’m missing?
Thanks again!
Oh, I don’t know how I missed that wiki page. I got mono and the client installed. Thank you!
I can’t seem do download the fog client application an Ubuntu machine I’m trying to image. When I click the link for the smart installer it downloads a .exe
I haven’t been able to find any similar issues or relevant posts in my searches through the forum or on google.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@Sebastian-Roth I managed to cause a different issue troubleshooting, and had to rollback then update my server. I’ll probably make a separate thread later. Thank you though!
Not sure if I should make a new post for this, but i’m having this exact same issue trying to image Surface Gos (currently running FOG 1.5.5.1, and am able to image any other PC).
I was wondering if the ever got resolved?
Success, it’s now imaging!
Noticed one typo with /var/www/fog/service/ipxe/init.xz missing “_32”
Thank you!!
Gotcha. I just tried another debug and fixparts wasn’t found. Thank you for the quick replies!
Copy. Just attempted to switch over to the working branch, but I to am not sure if I did it correctly.
git checkout working
git pull
sudo -i
cd /root/fogproject/bin
./installfog.sh
My version information is the same as what @raju_inc is showing.
I can run gdisk, which prompts me to select MBR, Blank GPT, or GPT.
And fixparts isnt found…
New to the FOG scene, and I’ve been wrestling with a machine, trying to create a master Windows 10 LTSB image.
I’ve read that some SSDs can run into problems with GPT fragments causing problems. So I attempted to run diskparts in debug mode, only to run into “command not found”
This is a brand new FOG install (downloaded and setup this tuesday) and I’ve tried updating the kernals in the web gui, with no joy.
Do I need to update the init files manually?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
