I’ve been beating my head against the wall on this seemingly simple issue. My scheduled image upload tasks don’t start at the scheduled time, they don’t seem to work at all. I’m using Ubuntu Server 12.04.5 LTS i686 operating system and Fog 1.2.0 SVN 2900. What parts of FOG should I be looking at to see why the tasks are not running?

Scheduled tasks are not starting in FOG 1.2.0
I’m using Ubuntu server 12.04.5 LTS and FOG 1.2.0. If I schedule an image upload task for a host and the time comes where the task should go from scheduled to active the task just shows a status of active/delayed with the correct start time remaining under the scheduled task section . My problem is the task never moves to Active, it just stays as scheduled and nothing happens. I’ve been looking at the client fog.log, but the task isn’t even being set active by the server so thats not telling me much.
Can someone help point me in the right direction?

RE: FOG problems connecting to NFS share on NAS4FREE
I’m afraid I don’t understand what you mean here, did I do something to it ?

RE: FOG problems connecting to NFS share on NAS4FREE
OK, made some progress but need some more guidance here. First off i’m still getting this permission denied error, but its only naming the /images/dev folder
good news is I can now see what I have for storage on my nas4free server
Here is what my storage definition page looks like in the web gui

Here is what my fstab looks like on the fog server, I have been trying several configurations which is why I have a commented out entry in my fstab.

Below is a ls -la of my images directory, would my .mntcheck files being owned by root be the problem?

The next image is showing nfs mounts available

Below are some screens from my nas4free system. I have a fog user set up on my nas, but i’ve tried the password for the fog user as “password” but this does now work.

Finally my nfs settings on the nas4free box

I have my zfs pool mounted on /images on my nas box. I’m literally stuck on this and following similar problems how to’s and fixes doesn’t seem to be helping my permissions denied problems.

RE: FOG problems connecting to NFS share on NAS4FREE
In an earlier post in another thread, I had suggested mounting the nfs shares to /images and /images/dev, respectively, but we tried that and found you cannot export them from the fog server.
Have you seen: http://www.fogproject.org/forum/threads/how-to-setup-a-fog-storage-node-without-installing-fog.4294/#post-12035
I’ve combed the forums and google for the solution. I’ve seen that thread but i’m not sure which part I need to be looking at to solve my problem. Do I need to create a new default share for my FOG images locally to mount to and then set up the mount point to the external NFS share?
To confirm if i’m understanding I can create a new FOG share on the FOG server at /fogimages. I then follow the how to http://www.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Change_NFS_location to change NFS location and then I can mount my NFS share at my new /fogimages location?

RE: FOG problems connecting to NFS share on NAS4FREE
I looked at the system log in the FOG server and noticed these messages

RE: Dnsmasq restart not working
Is this a VM or container or is it a bare metal install? http://serverfault.com/questions/257946/how-to-downgrade-dnsmasq Take a look at this website and you can also try service dnsmasq start as root.

FOG problems connecting to NFS share on NAS4FREE
So I spent 10+ hours today trying to get this to work. I’ve followed multiple tutorials on using an external NFS share and my results are not good. After I configure the NFS share in FOG the web GUI says unable to connect on the front page where usually the space free/used is displayed. I’ve created the NFS share, remade /images mounted my NFS share in FOG on /images, created the .mntcheck and then the /dev folder with .mntcheck inside it. I’ve made sure to chmod -R fog:root /images. When uploading an image once the process gets to send method-nfs I get an error of mount: 192.168.62.125:mnt/nfsdata/dev/ failed, reason given by server : Permission denied
mount: mounting 192.168.62.125:/mnt/nfsdata/dev/ on /images failed bad file descriptor. I’ve even tried following posts on here where people had similar issues and i’ve had no luck. The fog server is a vm running in Proxmox with bridged networking. Any ideas? -
Moving FOG install to Proxmox OpenVZ Container question about database and "schema"
I’m moving my FOG install to an OpenVZ container and I have a question about moving the database. In a new FOG install when you first go to the servers web interface you are asked to update a “scema”. My question is do I do this and then move my fog database over, or move the database over and then update the schema?
Thanks in advance!

Snap In Deployment question
I need to install snap ins under various accounts on the computers. Some items need to deploy to the Administrator account, and some to user accounts. I made a snap in that installs cygwin with various packages and installs a rsyncd daemon as well as sets up SSH. If I deploy this via fog as a snap in certain items in the install fail, if I run the .exe from the desktop of the machine it installs flawlessly.
- If the computer is not logged in to a user/administrator account and a snap in is deployed, which account if any does it install to?
- Is there a way to ensure the snap in installs to a specific account?

Can't move images file
Hi guys, today I added 2 TB of storage to my fog server and I’m having some issues. I used chucks you tube video on how to add the hard drive and then when I go to move the /images file to /imagesold so I can create the mount to the new drive as /images I get an message that says I can’t move because device or resource is busy. Can someone point me in the right direction?

RE: Adding local storage via external USB drive
ok, so can you point me in the right direction with commands to accomplish this? If I do this then will the image save only on the external drive? I have hardly any room left on the server hard drive.

Adding local storage via external USB drive
I need to take an image of 2 servers at the end of each month to move off site via a 1TB USB external drive. I want to leave my current images in the “images” folder. How do I add my external USB drive as a local storage option for the FOG server for these 2 servers?

RE: Problem trying to add capacity to the /images directory
I am running FOG on Ubuntu 11.04. I have an additional 500GB drive that I have mounted as a folder inside of the /images directory as “hd2500”.
My question is concerning how FOG interacts with the /images/hd2500 directory. Will the total storage amount listed on the FOG Dashboard under Disk Information show the additional space added?
How does one use this directory when creating a new image? In the FOG WEB GUI, would you change the path listed on the Image Management section listed under “Image File:” to match the subfolder that I created at /images/hd2500?
I’ve run out of space on my original drive and I want to be able to schedule an image upload and have it stored in the /images/hd2500 directory that I added, while keeping my existing images stored in /images. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I too am looking for an answer on how to do this, I have limited space and want to image 2 servers and move the data off site via external usb drive.

RE: How to: Make a simple snapin-Start to finish
AGGGG, silly error on my part. I placed all of the files into a folder and then archived the folder. Once I put all files into the archive, not a folder before hand I deploy and it installs great!

RE: How to: Make a simple snapin-Start to finish
When I follow these directions and test the snap in I get a 7-ZIP SFX archive error message. In the %temp% folder of the target host a folder called 7ZipSfx.000 is created and all the files are extracted as per above. If I click on the install.cmd within this folder adobe reader installs fine, any help is appreciated.
