    • When attempting to image a laptop: Error trying to restore GPT partition tables - Exit code 4

I have FOG setup on a Hyper-V virtual server and I’ve used it successfully to capture an image from a physical desktop machine. I’ve applied that same image to other desktop PCs with no issues, however every time I attempt to apply it to the laptops I have (Dell Lattitude 3520) I get this GPT partition tables error. I have went through everything I can think of - all BIOS settings, created a new image & tried applying that (same error) - nothing has worked. The laptops have plenty of space for the image, and in fact that’s one reason I made a new image to test - the second image was just Windows with nothing else loaded.

Any advice or help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I’m just about at the end of my rope on this one. Here’s a screenshot of the exact error message:

    • Crashed Capturing Image Due To Low Disk Space, Cannot Log Back Into FOG

I was capturing an image this morning when I ran out of disk space on my FOG server. After this, I have been unable to log back into FOG - I just get the error “database connection unavailable”. In Ubuntu I have manually deleted a few images to clear up some disk space and verified that the space is available, but I cannot start mariadb - the log file for that says:

“A valid database connection could not be made
      Main process exited, code=exited, status=10/n/a”

I have even backed up my mariadb settings, uninstalled & reinstalled and restored the settings - no change. I’m stumped. My gut says the db was corrupted, but I’m very green when it comes to Linux and my searches haven’t shown me a way to check / repair the db. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    • RE: Surface Laptop 3 - All devices show as registered with the same host name

@mttpr1 Thanks, that was basically it - apparently the Surface dock itself has a MAC address, so that’s what was causing the issue. No way around it really, but at least I know what the problem was. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

    • Surface Laptop 3 - All devices show as registered with the same host name

Last year I ran into an issue when attempting to register & image a batch of Surface Pro 9’s. After completing the first one, the rest showed that they were already registered as the same host name as the first - basically, it was as if FOG thought they were all the same device. After some digging, I discovered a firmware update from Microsoft resolved this issue.

Fast forward to now, I’m having the exact same issue with a batch of Surface Laptop 3’s. Found the update file from Microsoft & installed, but this time it doesn’t seem to be fixing the problem. Has anyone else run into this? Any recommendations for a fix?

    • Name Change & Domain Join Not Working

Like the subject says - I have researched and completed every configuration I can find related to this but it just never happens. The log file leads me to believe that there is a communication issue with the server (although I can send images from it with no problem), but I haven’t been able to find a lot of information about the specific error I’m getting. Here’s the parts of the log that seem pertinent:
