    • Dell Ultrabook XPS12

I have successfully been able to get a Dell Ultrabook XPS12 to PXE boot. When I try to run a full inventory it never is able to successfully send the inventory data to the FOG server.

Anyone out there been able to inventory and image an Ultrabook yet? Thanks

    • Is FOG still being actively developed?

Just curious since I’m a new user and never heard of it before a couple of weeks ago. Thanks!

    • RE: FOG available disk space web GUI issue?

This is still an issue for me. I have resolved the disk usage chart issue but still can’t seem to get FOG to use the full amount of available space in the VM.

When I first installed FOG, the VM was 64GB. I later realized I would need more space so I expanded the VM to 128GB. FOG doesn’t seem to be aware of this change. Is there a setting someplace that needs to be updated so it will use the entire VM storage?

      Thanks

Restored previous config.php file and fixed the issue.

Thanks for the reply John. Actually, the login stopped displaying the info the same time the Disk Info quit displaying. No Firewalls are in place that would prevent this from working. It’s strange…

    • Something is wrong with my install... screen shots attached

Just noticed Friday evening that my FOG web interface has issues. First, it doesn’t show the Estimated FOG Sites & Latest Version info at the login screen and Secondly, it doesn’t show the Disk Information. Please see attached screen shots.

Any ideas, how to get this corrected? Thanks

    • Hostname vs MAC address

I’ve noticed that FOG seems to want to take control of the host if its hostname doesn’t match what’s in the inventory. In fact it will continually reboot the host PC. I would rather FOG use the MAC address as its’ way of knowing what each host is and not the hostname. Is that possible?

    • FOG available disk space web GUI issue?

I have a 128GB VM running as my FOG server but the available space shows I only have a total of 61GB available. Does the web GUI have an issue with reporting the correct amount of space? Thanks

EDIT: Actually now the pie graph for disk usage is completely gone. It’s just totally blank in that area now. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot for the replies! Certainly a lot to digest but I’m willing! Jaymes, I really appreciate you taking the time it took to write all of that. I may very well take you up on the offer of working together with you on the walk through process.

    • RE: Completely new to FOG... some basic questions

      Thanks Chad…

      1. So best practice would be to use sysprep when creating the image to be used to build several PCs to avoid weird things with Windows down the road as you say.
      2. I will discontinue using Fogprep unless creating an XP image, correct? If so, should I do both Fogprep & Sysprep?
      3. As for kernels, is there a wiki that explains the procedure for trying different kernels?
      4. I was hoping FOG would do this out of the box, I need to learn about how to create a generalized image as you describe.

Thanks again for the reply and your time… much appreciated.

    • Completely new to FOG... some basic questions

After reading a ton about FOG online etc. I still am not sure about a few things…

      1. Is Sysprep required for Windows 7 images. If so, why?
      2. Is Fogprep required for Windows 7 images. If so, why?
      3. I downloaded the latest kernel using the built in kernel updater, is it okay for older PCs?
      4. Can a Windows 7 image created on a Dell be used on an HP?

I apologize in advance for such basic questions, but we all started at ground zero at some point with FOG. Appreciate your help. I’m sure I’ll have more questions as I go down this road, so far, I see great potential!

    • RE: Can't get past "Attempting to register host..." screen - get blank screen at that point

Really old thread here but I’ve run into this issue. New FOG user and have successfully inventoried and imaged PCs but I’m unable to do either full or quick inventory on an HP 550 laptop. PXE boot and then select the option… blank screen after that. I checked the Working Hardware list and saw nothing that indicated I would need to do anything special.

I’m running stock 0.32 so swapping kernels is something I have no experience with as of yet. Is there a better kernel to use that is more compatible than the stock kernel?
