Web Service Can't Stop The Web Service

  • After downloading the most recent installer I have an error at the conclusion of the installer that says Stopping Web Service …Failed! This also has stopped access to the web gui.! 0_1482867738022_12-27.png

Remoted with @tom-langenfeld and we were able to fix the issue.

He was running Ubuntu 15.10, and the Ondrej repo would install, but there were no PHP packages for wily apparently. Updated to 16.04 and had to run a few tricks to get mysql working, but once all was working, everything appears to be running properly now.

  • When trying to run the first command I get this message.

  • Running the ./install -Xy yielded the same results

This is from a similar thread.

@Tom-Elliott said in Restarting apache2 for fog vhost...failed! Can't update:

@moses can you manually uninstall all php files?

    sudo apt-get purge -yq php* lib*php*; sudo rm -rf /etc/php*;

    Then rerun the fog installer?

Also check your /opt/fog/.fogsettings file for php_ver and php_verAdds and if you find lines beginning with this, just comment them out. This could be part of the issue.

Then after those two things, try re-running the installer.

  • Senior Developer

This is going to be overly simplistic of a test, but you could try running:

    ./installfog.sh -Xy

  • Sounds good just chat me with a time that works for you and I am flexible

  • Senior Developer

Remote will likely need to happen later today if at all possible. I’m on East coast US time. (I’ll be home around 4:30pm here). Then I will hit you up on chat if all is okay with you.

    Thanks for understanding.

  • Of course just let me know how I can help

  • Senior Developer

@tom.langenfeld Give me a few. I will likely need to remote in to see what’s going on if that’s okay with you.

  • Does the previous post go back into the log far enough? they are the lines from the end of the log

  • Senior Developer

@tom.langenfeld Ultimately the last few lines (maybe 100 or so) is important

  • Using the new repository I reached the same point and errors. Also several other items that are stated as not existing. I do now have the correct log but don’t know how to open the logs remotely through console.

@tom.langenfeld I don’t think you have 1.3.0 yet. Here’s what I’d like you to do - delete your current installation files, and then clone this repository: https://github.com/FOGProject/fogproject.git

Then use that to install fog.

If I knew where you kept your current installation files, I could offer you exact commands.

  • I am upgrading from RC-10. I would like to have the official release so that the stability will increase.
I noticed my logs don’t have the exact same option. my file log is fog_error_1.3.0-RC-10.

  • Senior Developer

@tom.langenfeld please post the log found in:

    ~/fogproject/bin/error_logs/fog_error_1.3.0.log

  • The command appeared to resolve immediately.0_1482868714948_12-272.png
