      Server
      • FOG Version: 7208
      • OS: Ubuntu 14.04
      Client
      • Service Version: Legacy and 9.0.12
      • OS: Windows 7
      Description

Just wondering about FOG server versions and client versions.

At the moment i have FOG server 7208 running with legacy clients and 9.0.12 clients.

I have an issue where my server CPU runs at 100% all the time during the day when the pcs are talking to FOG.

Im planning on upgrading the legacy clients to 9.0.12 and then upgrading the FOG server, but i cant upgrade the server until the clients have upgraded.

Does anyone have a list of Server and Client compatibly? I did upgrade to 1.3.0 rc14 awhile ago, but the old legacy clients did not talk to the server, so printers and snapins did not deploy. So i had to go back to the previous snapshot.

Is there a version of FOG server that will talk to the legacy client and the 9.0.12 client newer than the version i have. Im hoping this will sort the 100% CPU usage issue. I have seen on the forums that the new clients are sending a of chat to the server and its fixed in later versions, but i dont want to upgrade yet because of the old legacy client.

      High CPU usage info:

Please, I’d highly recommend updating to the RC versions of FOG.

First, we’ve updated the new client to a much less intensive system of receiving its data (most likely will fix your CPU 100% issue, after the clients have a shot at updating.)

There’s been loads of improvements beyond that itself. We’ve been RC’s for a few months now, and while it’s still not “perfect” it’s eons above the performance and capabilities of the 7000 versions, and even the 8000 versions.

Please update and I think you’ll find many of these issues will be corrected for.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

And, all versions of trunk/rc shouldn’t have much issue working with both versions (New and Legacy) of the clients, though I’d highly recommend getting every system on the new client for security and performance reasons.

              @Tom-Elliott

Upgraded both Server and Node to 1.3.0 RC22 last night.

Now i get an error with the storage node “A valid database connection could not be made”

Iv checked my passwords and it all seems to be ok.

              Any ideas?
