Fog Imaging
-
A quick question - sysprep plus fog - do I need to sysprep and use fog if I am using a KMS to activate Windows and Office and I am joining to AD after imaging? What do I gain by syspreping the machine?
-
quick answer - sysprep isn’t required for domain joining after imaging.
KMS could cause issues without sysprep, we use MAKs here instead of KMS.Of course, you can sysprep if you like.
Gains? Potential less issues with WSUS and KMS. Also, sysprep will let you build a hardware independent image - if you supply the drivers you need on the image.

@Wayne-Workman Wayne, I tried MAK with fog but it wasn’t activating. Do you assign the key in fog or in the image itself? Same issue with Office. When activated with MAK in image it didn’t activate in deployed image.

@Vanlue-IT-Guy More specific questions need more specific details. OS Version, FOG Version, FOG Client version.

@Wayne-Workman Win 10 Education, FOG 7486, client 0.10.5

@Vanlue-IT-Guy There were activation issues in that version. Update and it should work.
