@raymondub You’ve been running version 5453 this whole time?

What are your “steps” to updating to the latest?

Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. It's not just about coding - way more we need people to test things, update documentation and most importantly work on uniting the community of people enjoying and working on FOG! Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

        @Tom-Elliott
        wget --no-check-certificate http://mastacontrola.com/fog_trunk.tar.bz2
        tar -xjf fog_trunk.tar.bz2
        cd XXX
        ./installfog.sh
and followed the instructions like i saw somewhere on the wiki.
But when i check the history, i remember that i had to reinstall some package:
        sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get --purge --reinstall install apache2 libapache2-mod-php5

I red that with the svn, it was possible to backup/restore only a partition and it was what i needed. Cause it was stable, i stayed in that version 5453

@raymondub Here is how you usually to upgrades: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Upgrade_to_trunk (I prefer using git over svn but they both work!)

I red that with the svn, it was possible to backup/restore only a partition and it was what i needed.

Have you ever tried doing just one partition? If I remember correctly we just fixed a major bug with single partition restore!

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Is there somewhere another error file with more derails than /var/log/fog/fogscheduler.log ?
            thx !

@raymondub Can you simply update to the latest? Using SVN or GIT would be better than the tarball, as I don’t know the exact steps you’re using. Wget, often, creates a new file in the form of:

              nameofFile.ext
              nameofFile.ext.1
              nameofFile.ext.2

So if you are in the same directory that you downloaded fog_trunk.tar.bz2 on, you can probably run:
ls -lhart and you’ll likely find something along the lines of:

              fog_trunk.tar.bz2
              fog_trunk.tar.bz2.1
              fog_trunk.tar.bz2.2
              fog_trunk.tar.bz2.3
              fog_trunk.tar.bz2.4

I’m guessing you’re not updating anything (ever) and simply reinstalling the original first downloaded file.

FOG now has everything it needs to setup your server, but please
understand that this script will overwrite any setting you may
have setup for services like DHCP, apache, pxe, tftp, and NFS.

It is not recommended that you install this on a production system
as this script modifies many of your system settings.

This script should be run by the root user on Redhat or with sudo on Ubuntu.

** Notice ** Redhat users will need to disable SELinux and iptables in
                  order to use FOG
Please see our wiki for more information at http://www.fogproject.org/wiki

Here are the settings FOG will use:
                         Base Linux: Debian
                         Detected Linux Distribution: Ubuntu
                         Installation Type: Normal Server
                         Server IP Address: X.X.X.X
                         DHCP router Address: X.X.X.X
                         DHCP DNS Address: X.X.X.X
                         Interface: eth0

DHCP will NOT be setup but you must setup your
current DHCP server to use FOG for PXE services.

On a Linux DHCP server you must set:
                             next-server

On a Windows DHCP server you must set:
                             option 066 & 067

Option 066 is the IP of the FOG Server: (e.g. X.X.X.X)
                                   Option 067 is the undionly.kpxe file: (e.g. undionly.kpxe)

Are you sure you wish to continue (Y/N)

I tried to remove mysql* apache2* php* and start again the install of the svn but it failed at the same point. I remember that i had that kind of problem last time.
I ll try to install a all new ubuntu 12.04 tomorrow but question… To install the svn, do it need to install fog 1.2.0 first ?
                thx

@raymondub Tom was asking you to update to the very latest version via git or svn: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Upgrade_to_trunk

You don’t need to worry about FOG 1.2.0 at all anymore. Just go straight to trunk via git/svn.

Please check the install error log in the same directory where you run the installer from, so fogproject/bin/error_log/... and let us know what exactly goes wrong…

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

                    @Sebastian-Roth
I just made a new fresh installation without putting fog 1.2.0 but the setup failed all the time at the same point
                    libapache2-mod-evasive :Can’t intall - unmet dependencies apache2.2-common
My knowledge of ubuntu is not good enough to change that kind of depedencies
I am using Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS, do you recommend me to choose another version ?

@raymondub Please edit fogproject/lib/ubuntu/config.sh and remove libapache2-mod-evasive in the packages listing line (there are two!!). Then try installing again. Does it work?

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

@Sebastian-Roth said in Scheduled cron tasks don't start:

                        libapache2-mod-evasive

Yes that kind of modification is working. Except that i had to modify that in the file fogproject/lib/common/functions.sh

                        root@ubufog2:~# grep -lR "libapache2-mod-evasive" *
                        fogproject/lib/common/.svn/text-base/functions.sh.svn-base
                        fogproject/lib/common/functions.sh
                        root@ubufog2:~#

                        Thank you !
I ll create a new image and see if if i can schedule the restore with this version

                        Version: 7410
