Location Plugin applied to snapins
-
I would like to see the location plugin applied to snapins. It is not acceptable for us to transmit the snapin files over the WAN. Thank you for all your hard work.

I could be wrong, but I believe this is already the case.

I have been searching across the forum and asking moderators to point me in the right direction. Can you tell me how to do it? I don’t see the snapins on the storage node.

Snapins/Images work by replicating.
First step is it will check if a snapin/image is setup for multiple groups. Replication, for these guys, happen on a Master->Master transfer.
Second step is it will check for any nodes within it’s group. If there’s one or more, it will replicate with all the nodes in its group.
That’s all I can think of that would be needed.

Is this something that is included in Trunk? I am using 1.2.0 and cannot see the storage group for the snapin record like I could see for the images. The snapins were not replicated to the storage node on my network.
The locations plugin documentation is non existant. I see no threads on this forum or any other saying that the location plugin is applying to snapins. The best I found was a thread that said to create a script that would call a file off of a local samba share. This of course would be a pain if we needed to add another location.
Thank you for your help.

@adowns yes this is in trunk and was not present in 1.2.0
While trunk is still a “development” system and not typically recommended for production I believe it would help more than hinder. More testers/reports of issues means a more stable end product anyway and I’m usually very quick to correct bugs I’m made aware of. If you’d be willing to try it out I think you’d find the pros far outweigh the cons at this point. I almost want to say trunk is essentially the working rc more than a beta at this point.

Please see:
https://news.fogproject.org/fog-client-v0-11-4-released/0.11.4 now downloads from the storage node if locations are setup.
