I have an Ubuntu 12.04 server with Fog 1.2.0 on it. I just ran the SVN to 3387 version as well. This is all new. When a host goes to boot PXE it gets to the menu screen. I select perform full host registration and inventory. Then nothing happens just a black screen. I have left it like that for 30 minutes and tried several times on many different hosts. When I tried from a vm I got:

tftp://x.x.x.x/default.ipxe… ok
http://x.x.x.x/fog/service/ipxe/boot.php… ok
/bzimage… No such file or directory (http:ipxe.org/2d0c613b)

any help on how to get past this point?

I have went through so many of these forums today and nothing gets me past this point. Thanks for your time.

Update again. Bug was affecting inventory. Bug resolved in 3388.

I fixed that issue but I ran the 3388 update and it still goes straight to a blank screen after I do any computer to register host or quick register.

I even tried to upload an image from a host. Set as an active task from the web GUI. It just boots goes through PXE then boots to HDD. Does not even try to do the active tasks. I am also using the undionly.kpxe if that means anything. I tried reverting back to pxelinux.0 and I got that error libcom error on repeat. So I put it back to undionly.kpxe

From the sounds of it sourceforge was down again today. Hopefully in the near future it will not rely on aoyrcedorge any more.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

I still can’t upload images, or do imaging from my server. I boot PXE into the menu and cannot do any of the menu options it just goes to a black screen on our hosts/desktops and on VM’s it just skips to the HDD after you select any PXE boot menu option. Is there a setting or something I am missing? We have thousands of computers on our network so a network imaging solution like this would really help us. It just never seems to work.

The only thing that works on my PXE boot menu is memtest everything else after you select it goes to a blank black screen and nothing else happens.

what tom meant about sourceforge being down is that your install most likely failed to download properly one or more of: bzImage, bzImage32, init.xz, and init_32.xz
you may even seem to have the files, but they may only be partial downloads

rerunning the installer would likely fix the problem, yes.

I ran the re-install of fog. Now when I perform anything from the PXE boot menu I get a brief init.xz message then black screen still. I just re-did 2 more spare servers and a VM 2 with ubuntu 12.04 and one with ubuntu 14.04.2. Ran the fog installs from 3 different people which were all the same mostly. Still nothing.

I have an update, my VM desktops seem to be working fine now with fog. They go through to full host registration. I am going to try and upload images now. Why does fog not work from physical desktops though?

how much time did you give the physical machines to boot?

I used a different desktop, and it takes a while to boot but it does if I wait longer. My old server was .32 fog and it was never this slow to load up. But hey its working somewhat now just slow. Thanks for the help

what model of computer are you testing with?
speed should be comparable with 0.32 on startup, and i think you’ll find that imaging tasks have sped up a bit

everything we have are lenovo’s. We get to the PXE menu then it takes about a minute or 2 after for the black screen to go away into the fog prompt.
