DELL Optiplex 755 not imaging
-
Hi guys,
As I have searched and found only one thread regarding these Dell computers but unfortunately without answer, I’m being forced to ask for help. I have imaged quite a number of computers so far using FOG (big thanks to developers) but I have managed to image only 2 of these Dell’s so far. I need to image 30 of them so far went through 7 but managed to image only 2.
Upon deployment of the image, all seems fine until when the screen should change to blue with progress bars where the image is being uploaded.
Right before this screen the computer reboots. I have recorded the screen as there was a message coming up for a fraction of a second. The message says that imaging of the drive was successful even though it did not even start. List of hosts in FOG reports that the image process took 4 seconds.
Well now the question is what is wrong or what is causing the issue. All other PC’s are working just fine.Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The thread should read DELL Optiplex 755 - stupid dictionary on my phone

the optiplex 755 is a “known working” model. are you trying to upload or download an image? (in fog terminology, we upload to server, download to client)

I’ve seen this myself on fourish 755’s in our district. I haven’t had much time to look into it…I tried a couple different kernels to no avail.
Workaround is to simply deploy onto a working hard drive, shut the station down upon completion and then pop the hard drive into the problematic 755. Then Windows will start setting up devices as usual.

We’re using Dell OptiPlex 755 with Fog 0.32, 1.2.0 and SVN 2332 without issue.

Also make sure that the partition size of your image isn’t bigger than the drive size you are pushing down to.

Hi guys,
I’m really sorry, that I haven’t responded for so long, I have completely forgot about this. No excuses of course, but have been struggling quite a lot with those machines and probably out of frustration I did not answer. The image I was trying to upload was somehow “magically” corrupted, as I have used it for some machines before as I have stated at the beginning. After so many tries I have installed another machine from scratch , which was pain a bit and uploaded the image to the FOG server and used it on all the machines without one little problem. Ever since I have imaged over 100 computers (different brands) with different OS’s and it just works.
Again big thanks to the developers and also to you guys for all the patience. Thanks

FOG version 1.2

Also I have checked all over the web before and that’s why I ended up asking in this forum, as I could not see any answers, obviously.
