Windows 7 Deployment FOG- SAD2 Driver tool

  • Moderator

windows should be picking up the name from its hostname as defined in FOG. (if you have the feature enabled)

if you want to change the name, change it in FOG and the pc will auto change its name.

    1. or you can disable this auto-naming feature, and login to the pc and change it that way. without it reverting back to what it is named in FOG

  • i see… so this windows i just deployed cannot be renamed at all?

and will redploy an image after disabling fog renaming…

My only concern now is that even if i change the hostname, restarted the machine and after logging in back it returns to the original hostname… what to do?
you need to change hostname via FOG web gui or disable fog renaming via FOG web ui

when i boot a vm , the Fog Computer Cloning Solution ( to peform Registration and Inventory) just appears and booting will be directed to HDD. i test on a physical machine booting nic on FOG and it was fine.

Note that my Fog Server is also a VM (from Vsphere).

I created also vmware_user with no password but still the same.

    What could be the solution?
hi as this is not a question regarding this tutorial, can you start a new thread in the help section to keep this thread on track.

    thanks

First off thanks for a greate guide :)
I just wantede to let you know that this guide works without issues on latest version of SAD2 (v120520)

wizard210 it sounds like you have been messing around with eighter the bin folder inside drivers or you made changes to the script so it is now unable to find the bin folder.

I want to use the newest script too, which is in my case 121126, but it is “completely” rewritten.

Does somebody still have version 120520 (because it is down)?
Or has somebody an idea where to insert the code in 121126?

If this could be solved, others would be helped who whant to use an updatet version.

For now i use the original version, which can still be downloaded here: http://dropcanvas.com/k9iq0

    Nice work. Thanks.

Did u manage to upload the new pdf tutorial with the added/updated instructions/informations based from the comments and suggestions?

    Thanks a lot.

Negative, but the original thread posts have been updated.

I suggest reading the whole thread first though. But the instructions are still good.

  • v111118 brings me to mediafire and says “Invalid or deleted file”. Is it available anywhere else, of can somebody upload it?

It seems as though only the most current version is available. I tried everything between 111118 and the latest, and only the latest works.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see up a couple posts somebody uploaded it. I tried it and it works perfect! Thanks so much!

  • If you downloaded a new version of the SAD2 tool, you really should use the version included there, the modifications neede to make it fit this project is minimal, and there are a lot of other changes in the script now. If you want to use the DP_Install_Tool.txt included in this guide, then make sure your also using the same SAD2 version else you will get errors.

  • I am having some issues with SAD working. I downloaded the OP’s DP_Install_Tool.txt and pasted all of that into the file on the C drive, and I get the issues in the photos I’ve attached.

I hit OK to the prompt in the 1st photo, and it proceeds to extract the files as shown in the 2nd photo, but after it extracts them all, it gives me the error you see in the 3rd photo. I’ve also attached a .txt file that contains the DP_Install_Tool that I am using.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  • Got it, thanks :)

Are you using the version I specified in the original post? Or a newer version? I use version SAD2-111118 of the SAD2 tool.
