Hello there,

I am getting the same error message when trying downloading the newest Kernel kernel-3-2-4-core through the Fog Web management.
But I tried finding it on Sourceforge and was not successful. Could somebody send me the link please, so I can download it.

I am having problems with a laptop and its ATI Radeon graphic card, receiving vbe_init() failed with -22 error followed by snow.
I could try to modify some kernel settings, but I am to inexperienced with Linux to do so.

thanks
Cheers

hey,

thanks for the quick reply. In the meantime I found it 😄 on the jp sourceforge.net website.

here are some additional information, regarding how to change the kernel for the PXE in FOG Server

I followed squeaners instructions after i found out where I had to upload the kernel (kernel-3.2.4.core)

1. download the kernel version from sourceforge (I did copy and paste the kernel version name into google)
2. I used webmin and went to /tftpboot/fog/kernel
3. renamed the bzImage to bzImage_backup (or what ever you prefer in this cases)
4. uploaded the kernel-3.2.4 (or what version you have downloaded)
5. rename the kernel-3.2.4 to bzImage (IMPORTANT in fog 0.32 it has to be name bzImage and not bzimage)

But I am still having the vbe_init () failed with -22 on the laptop. in my case is actually the /sbin/v86d missing, but that will be documented in a different fog forum thread.

Cheers

I am having the same issue with the 3.2.4 kernel. I downloaded from sourceforge and have it in /var/www/fog/service/ipxe (Fog 1.1.2) but it has a different icon from the bzImage (not very familiar with the linux file structure but getting there). Any thoughts?

Is because it’s a 32-bit kernel you need to use one of the more recent versions and you can check on the unofficial you need a 64-bit kernel

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Thanks Tom! Do you happen to know what the “Default bzImage” was for 1.1.2? Many of the known working devices say Default bzImage (including the machine I am currently working on) and ours was changed to troubleshoot something else.

If you go to the source forge webpage for fog and look under the code then the tags directory you’ll see one.one.to go to packages web service ipxe

I deleted that question (a few minutes ago) because it was answered here. I was able to replace both the bzimage and bzimage32 and get most of our machines working on that. I am having an issue with the HP DC 7800, assuming it’s a kernel issue. It errors out after I see this screen but the error is so quick I can’t read it.

this does not look like a kernel issue. try tapping “pause/break” while this is happening, to see if you can catch the error.

As an update, I have taken a video to capture the error message and tom has been answering on http://fogproject.org/forum/threads/hardware-currently-working-with-fog-v1-x-x.10685/
