The FOG server and clients are in different subnets, everything else is fine, but the host status cannot be displayed correctly. Since I don’t have a DNS server, how can I set up a functional DNS server and what configurations are needed? thank you!

        Hello,

To configure a DNS server, install a DNS software on a server in the same network as FOG server and clients. Edit the DNS configuration file to define mappings between hostnames and IP addresses. Update the client’s network settings to use the DNS server’s IP address.

@Patriciadavis Is it only possible to manually configure the mapping between the hostname and IP address? The IP address is obtained automatically, and it may change.

Have you tried this? Is this was helpful or not?

@Patriciadavis haven’t tried it, and it requires too much gathering work, but it doesn’t affect its normal operation. Thank you.

I would recommend dnsmasq. Here’s a good simple tutorial. https://stevessmarthomeguide.com/home-network-dns-dnsmasq/

I have never tried dnsmasq. Can you give detailed instructions on how to use it?
