      Hello everyone,

I’m new to the FOG world, and I wanted to know if we want to use DNSmaq it has to be installed on the FOG server itself or can we install DNSmaq on another server.

We tried to install DNSmap on a different server than the FOG one and we got a TFTP error, a little help would be welcome.

      Thanks in advance.

@tehcnique dnsmasq (not dnsmaq or dnsmap) does not have to be on your FOG server but it needs to be within the same subnet to work.

You gave very little information on what exact error you see on the screen and why you want to use dnsmasq at all. Most DHCP servers can be setup to make PXE boot work and there is no need to use dnsmasq.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

Please support FOG if you like it: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Support_FOG

@tehcnique DNSMASQ can be installed on the same server as FOG or on a different linux server. It will work well in either case as long as the target pxe bootng computers are on the same subnet as the dnsmasq server. If the pxe booting computers are on a different subnet then you must make a change on your router to make it work.

What configuration file are you using for dnsmasq? It would be helpful if you put it in your post. DNSMASQ can do a lot of things so the configuration file is important to have it correct.

Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. It's not just about coding - way more we need people to test things, update documentation and most importantly work on uniting the community of people enjoying and working on FOG!
