i have been trying for a while now to get fog running on arch or manjaro master, dev ,working all fail
firstly the installer does not detect i am running as root and i must comment out sudo check in install.sh
the installer otherwise is fine until the open url for database install - the webpage is blank and db not filled with tables
i tried manually adding a backup of another fog db and the installer will finish but i still get no web ui
im guessing it is a php 8.0 issue?
      any help is appreciated

@amjfrankenstein To be fair, I don’t know how many people actually use the Arch version for installations. I’ve only heard of 1 person in the past (which basically did all the ground work for the current level of installer capability.)

I haven’t tested any of the Arch installation bits for a very, very long time (think in terms of 3 - 5 years). So I’m sure it’s most likely something needs to be updated and/or changed for the Arch/Manjaro linux support.

Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. It's not just about coding - way more we need people to test things, update documentation and most importantly work on uniting the community of people enjoying and working on FOG! Get in contact with me (chat bubble in the top right corner) if you want to join in.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

@amjfrankenstein Would be great to have someone actually using FOG on Arch. Would you opt in to maintain this part of the FOG installer?

Don’t think it’s much work if you have a base system installed anyway. Maybe even have a clean one in a VM that can be reset with snapshots for testing.

i had it working once before on arch less than a year ago but many changes on many things are so fast on arch its hard to track down whats holding it up - i currently run 6 fog servers at work and 1 home for playing with i actually had it running on WSL2 that was fun but not at all practical (no systemd) i could try helping with the arch installer i use arch/manj whenever i can but fog is a breaker for me i need it for everything

@sebastian-roth with the amount of times i experiment with various things and breaking them getting a fresh install is not an issue plus i have access to a lot of hardware

@amjfrankenstein Lost track of this and just stumbled upon this again. Are you still around?

We were talking about removing ARCH support altogether as no one wants to work on this: https://github.com/FOGProject/fogproject/issues/447

Please let us know if you are still keen to get involved. If not, ARCH support will be removed.
