      Hey guys,

For my client I made a fog server, but I stumbled up an issues.

Is it possible to deploy an image without registering the HOST in the fog server?

When i try to deploy the image without registering it I get the error that he cannot locate the image. When it is registered it just deploy normally.

@JulianC Well then we are missing some vital information here! What device is 10.229.9.50 and what is the IP of your FOG server and the NAS? Please post a picture of your storage configuration.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

*The name of the image has been changed, but this is still the same image.

FYI: All the images are stored on a NAS server on the same subnet.
The images file is also hidden on the NAS server, but I don’t think that it will be a problem.

@JulianC Just to make sure and rule out the basic things. Can you please run the command ls -al /images/Win7MasterNoIEv1 on your FOG server (console) and post output/picture of that here?

@JulianC The picture with the error screen did not upload properly. Please try again. Otherwise upload to an external server and post a link here.

                    Hey Sebastian thx for replying,

To begin with I first registered the host, soo I can make the Capture image. There is no problems with registering the host or the Capture image. Now I get a new computer that is not registered and go to pxe boot > fog server > deploy image (It asks for my credentials). Now I am in Image list and I use a random image, the fog server communicates with the new pc. But when the images is starting to deploy I get this error:![alt text](![0_1589534616857_fog-error.png](Uploading 100%) image url)

@JulianC I am not able to replicate the issue. I setup a fresh test server, registered one host to capture an image from it. Then PXE booted a different host and deployed an image directly form the PXE menu without registering that host. Worked perfectly fine.

I have used the latest development version, though I am not aware of a change between FOG 1.5.8 and the latest dev version that would fix such an issue.

Can you please take a picture of the error on screen and post here? As well you might explain what steps you take exactly till you see the error.

@JulianC Did you install FOG using the git method or by downloading the tarball? The reason why I ask is that if you used the git method, I’d recommend that you switch over to 1.5.9RC1 and see if that resolved the issue. There were a few bugs in 1.5.8 around unable to locate the image store.

The iPXE menu option of Deploy Image should be functionally the same as scheduling the deployment after registering.

@JulianC said in Is it not possible to deploy an image without registering the HOST?:

                            Version: 2.4.29

This is not a known version of FOG. That number looks more like a linux kernel version. AND if your fog server is running 2.4.29 the OS and your version of FOG are unsupported because they are really old. All known fog versions, to date, should be less and 1.6.1.
