Active Directory Defaults no longer encrypts password

Running FOG 1.5.7. Thought you guys should know the Active Directory Defaults settings and Active Directory settings per host show Domain password. Should be encrypted. Is there a way to resolve this? Also, when exporting hosts, passwords are exported as well.

Update to FOG 1.5.8…

Also, when exporting hosts, passwords are exported as well.

As this hasn’t been reported as being an issue yet it’s still the case on exports I would think.

@cmachado What do you mean by easier? You are asking for something to be fixed in FOG and I say it is already you just need to update.

Have you ever done a FOG uprade? You simply download the new version and run the installer. All your hosts and settings in the DB will be there after the upgrade as well as the images and so on.

It’s still wise to take a backup just in case something goes wrong but usually there is nothing to worry about when upgrading from one version to the next. If there would be known issues we would surely tell you.

@Sebastian-Roth I was hoping for a patch or file replacement rather than an entire re-installation. Seems a bit overkill. Don’t you think? I have 10 nodes do I need to upgrade those as well?

@cmachado I am not talking about re-installation but upgrade. Overkill to upgrade to a new release where dozens of issues have been fixed and features added… no I don’t think so.

But that’s up to you. If you prefer messing with the code, it’s all on github, go for it: https://github.com/FOGProject/fogproject/commit/72b0de00ecebf898528688f501f6474d6d4f07d2 (you will find different numbers in system.class.php, just skip that one)

If you upgrade, you better upgrade all nodes in one go. Yes this is a bit of work but I am wondering, don’t you update your Linux and Windows OS regularly?

@Sebastian-Roth Windows servers yes via SCCM, Linux yes, except the FOG server. I’ve been using FOG for over a decade and upgrading Linux caused sudden issues to FOG functionality. Also, upgrading FOG in the past was a disaster. Probably because of the overhaul, but nonetheless unreliable. But if you say it’s better now I can give it a go. With VMs I can take the risk.

@cmachado Better you do Linux system package updates before actually updating FOG!
