With a Esprimo D556, D738, Asus ZENBOOK,
1st: I boot on my server fog without worries, if after 3 seconds I leave boot on the hard drive, I have a black screen with the prompt and nothing happens.
2nd: if I run a backup of the machine I have the following message:
while I have free space on my disk.

@doubleve Do you have fast boot disabled in Windows before you started the capture task? Sure the machine is not hibernated or anything?
Did you see any error message in the blue partclone window that has been on screen hust before the screen we see in the picture?
