Official Way to Upgrade 1.4.4 to the newest most stable version?
-
Hi, I have 1.4.4 running on Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS with one node running the same.
I would like to upgrade to a newer version but not too new as this version is rock solid! What’s the official way please?
-
All earlier releases can be upgraded from any point to the most stable. This includes the 0.2x, 0.3x, and anything moving forward.
Hopefully this helps.
Simply download the version you want, extract as needed, and run the installfog.sh script.
Thank you,

@Kevin-Talbot Make sure you read the notice on the latest stable release for Ubuntu before you go ahead:
Please make sure you say NO if asked about removing and re-installing PHP and Apache when upgrading to 1.5.7 on Ubuntu!!!
https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/13488/fog-1-5-7-officially-released
Beside that I’d suggest you wait before upgrading. 1.5.7 turned out to not be as rock solid and we are working on a more stable release 1.5.8 to come out in the next months.

Thanks Tom & Sebastian, so is 1.5.5 rock solid? And if so where do I get it from?

@Sebastian-Roth thanks! so is 1.5.5 rock solid? And if so where do I get it from?

@Kevin-Talbot Don’t think 1.5.5 is rock solid but you can give it a try. All the released versions can be found here: https://github.com/FOGProject/fogproject/releases
On the other hand why would you take the step to 1.5.5 and not wait for the 1.5.8 release? I am not saying 1.5.8 will be totally bug free but we put quite some effort into making it a solid release. The more people help us testing (using the latest development version) the more we can fix… no testing, no fixing.
-
@Sebastian-Roth ok perfect, what’s the ETA roughly?
-
@Kevin-Talbot Can’t give you a real good estimation on this because it depends on how much time we find to work on this. Doing it all in our free time. I hope to get it out by the end of the year but could even take till March next year.
-
@Sebastian-Roth ok thankyou! so might go for it, which version would you suggest?
-
@Kevin-Talbot Well, the version with the most bugs fixed (even some you have in 1.4.4) is the latest 1.5.7 as of now. But it’s not without bugs.
Why is it that you can’t wait for 1.5.8 as you have used the very dated 1.4.4 for quite some time? Just wondering…

@Sebastian-Roth the boss wants it updated…
