Host registration without reboot
-
Hi All,
I am ex clonedeploy user and just moved to FOG.
In clonedeploy i was able to do quick deployment with registration, without need of restarting pc.
In fog i need to register pc first, reboot and then i can deploy the image.
registering pc in fog is important for me as i don’t have to rename each computer from windows level.
Is it possible to register pc via pxe boot without the need of rebooting pc so i can jump straight away to deploying image?

@Alk You can manually register a client in the web UI! Or you could even import a list of hosts via CSV file.

Thanks a million for your reply Sebastian,
Doing it via UI is a bit slow since i have to type in the mac of the device.
We are imaging PCs on our standalone network and sending them to different sites.
The only reason why i want to register them is to change the computer name.In Clonedeploy there was an option to do quick deployement and just type in the machine name.
I know i am a pain but is there a way to avoid the reboot during quick registration and just go back to the main menu in pxe boot?

Not without changing FOG/FOS as far as I can see. But you are more than welcome to play with the scripts and adjust things to make what you want.

Well if you use CSV import that shouldn’t be slow at all if you have the MACs at hand. This way you can add several hosts in one go and have the correct names assigned at the same time as well. This will save you time!
