Move the node list report from about page to another page linked on about page.
-
It’s good to have this page, but in some cases, with a largest list of nodes, an if you have some nodes stopped by maintennance, can be to slow to load.
I think that is better not to have to wait for that list to go to fog settings page.
It’s not the same wait for a page that you don’t want to visit, than wait for a page that you want to visit.
-
@EduardoTSeoane Good point. We’ll look into this.
-
@EduardoTSeoane Sorry for the long delay. I’ve just dug up some older topics again.
@Developers @Moderators @Testers Any suggestions on what sub page we could make the default instead of the current one (storage node list that can take a long time to load if you have several storage nodes). Possibly just leave the FOG version info there and create a new sub page for “Storage Nodes”?
-
@Sebastian-Roth Storage groups should be harmless. Could even make it a hierarchical structure if we’re so inclined.

What do you mean by that?
-
@EduardoTSeoane I’m assuming you mean the Node Version, Kernel, etc… screen?
I can move this to the node’s information screen. It would make more sense to have it local to the node rather than on an obscure page in the “FOG Configuration” page.
-
@Sebastian-Roth Sorry, my bad, was thinking about a completely different page! doh
-
I’ve made these changes in Working 1.6.
The about page will still show all nodes version and kernel information as it did before, but you can also now view Version and Kernel Information from within the storage node as well.
-
@Tom-Elliott As far as I understood @EduardoTSeoane’s post he asked for removing the node list from the “FOG Configuration” page (default Home view) because it takes terribly long to load if you have several storage nodes.
-
@Sebastian-Roth Understood, which is why I put it on the Storage Node. I just kept it, for now, just as a reference mostly.

@Sebastian-Roth Sure:
The new, Version and Kernel Tabs:
Left on FOG Configuration Page:
I haven’t removed them from the page for now.
-
@Tom-Elliott yeah i mean that. It’s a good idea but i Think that is a good idea too to have the current Page too as a sublink on fog settings. Changing the background color instead of erasing when the node is offline. To have a panorama of the system. I Dong unos if i explain correctly
-
I’m testing on my home environment the 1.5.7.713 (1.6), and i need to apply my “little database”, to see how it works, but at the first eye, that is a perfect solution for my request. I can go to “fog settings” without wait for the node list and i can I have a direct access to home page on FOG Configuration.
I want to add something, if it’s possible that, when you have communication problems with nodes they will be printed in red instead of remove it from list. Maybe it’s implemented now?..
-
@EduardoTSeoane As we plan to move on to 1.6 in the next months we stop adding features in 1.5.x - just too little time.
I want to add something, if it’s possible that, when you have communication problems with nodes they will be printed in red instead of remove it from list.
We shall keep this in mind for 1.6. Don’t think Tom has added this yet but we will at some point in time.
-
@Sebastian-Roth I did add this already to 1.6. (Partly). The put in red has not been done yet, as I currently just “continue” if the node is not online. Will work to put into red, but I don’t consider this as “high” priority for now.
-
I’ve added the adjustment to make an Orange Alert box in place of the versioning info on the storage node in the case the node is returning as offline.
Thank you,
