Plan to upgrade from 1.4.4 to the latest stable build, am I headed in the right direction?
-
I’ve read the following:
link1 link2 link3 link4 link5 link6And I believe all I must do is install git at this point? Is that still the most accurate install guide? Is it possible to install without Git? Is there anything that I should look out for in doing this upgrade other than the stuff stated in the links posted? I’ll make backups of fog via the shell script, snapshot the vm, and backup the dhcpd.conf file (as it is not managed by FoG). Is there anything else?
Thanks as always!

@salted_cashews That should be it. I would use the git method because when the next release of fog is made, you would just change to the git repository you will create with the
git clone
step and do agit pull
and then rerun the installer. Updating with git is the easiest route. -
@salted_cashews I’d suggest to hold off for a bit more. I can’t give you a date but we have fixed a couple of things in the current stable version 1.5.5 and hope to find the time to push for the next release.

@george1421 I see, thanks!
-
@Sebastian-Roth Oh sounds promising. Is there an approximate ETA/date? I’m in no rush but we’re still on 1.4.4 and we just feel it’s time.

@salted_cashews Sorry but can’t give you a date on this. Just keep your eyes open on the channels here: https://news.fogproject.org/ and https://forums.fogproject.org/category/22/announcements
