Re: Imposible to boot from hard drive

      Hi,

I’ll be back after a year of break. I still have the same problem on my machines. Can not use fog.

Computer in UEFI mode with Windows 8.

No image loaded. I’m just trying to start on a network computer.

Exit mode (for both) : REFIND_EFI

      Thanks

@aksl well you can edit the refind.conf file in /var/www/html/fog/service/ipxe/refind.conf and change the line for scanfor to look like this

        scanfor internal

Save the config file and then attempt booting it again.

I have message : Hit any key to continue.

If i hit, it’s ok, windows is booting. But i can’t desactivate that ? Users will need to click every time ?

@aksl So does it boot into windows, or does it stop with the CSM warning?

Okay, first success : after bios update, I have refind - initializing with blue background.

NOTE : refind.conf scanfor line specifies scanning for one or more legacy boot options however. This is not posible because your computer lacks the necessary Compatibility Support Module (CSM) support or that support is disabled in your firmware.

@aksl said in Imposible to boot from disk (black screen):

I’m using the last version of version.

                Latest version as in 1.5.4?
rEFInd is only for uefi exit mode. For bios I would start with SANBOOT or you will find no joy with bios machines.

                  Thanks for your help 🙂

I’m using the last version of version.
A Windows 8 computer, with AMD A8-6600K APU with Radeon™ HD Graphics and ASUS motherboard (A55BM-K).
No updated to the latest bios, i will try now.
I puted REFIND for uefi and bios.

Since its been almost a year have your conditions changed? It looks like we will need to start all over from the beginning.

What version of FOG are you using?
What target computer are you trying to pxe boot?
Have you updated to the latest bios?
Is your default exit mode for bios based computers SANBOOT?
Is your default exit mode for uefi based computers REFIND?
