Can I join a pc to the domain using fog but not using a fog image
-
We have some remote sites that when we have a new computer shipped from our supplier that they image with an image we supply them. I am wondering if I install the fog agent can I get that system to join the domain from the fog console?

@Obsidian If you have a FOG server running the fog-client will contact that FOG server when it comes up, checks the hostname, renames the machine if needed and joins the domain. No matter if this client has been imaged or installed by hand or whatever.

Okay thanks I was thinking that it might. I am going to start testing this now to see if I can get it to work. Do I need the fog agent installed or just to register it with the fog server?

If the hostname is already correct on the PC, I’d suggest just installing the FOG Client and letting it auto register to the server. You can manually register the client though as long as you have the MAC address.

As Avaryan said, there is no need to install the client for registering. Though it can make it easier. Clients should come up as pending hosts in the FOG web interface if you have the fog-client installed on the machines. But for domain joining (and host renaming) you need to install the fog-client anyway.
