Windows 7 question
-
I’m currently using FOG for imaging XP machines, and have had great success with it. I use it to back up machines and to deploy specific images.
My company is finally moving to Win7, and I see there is more complexity to doing casual backups and deploying images with FOG. Also, my boss does not stick with any one brand, model, etc., so I am unsure of how to prepare an image for multiple PC models. Is it possible to continue to use FOG in my environment with varied models and Win7? If so, can anyone point me to a guide? Thanks.
I did some searching here, and didn’t really see much on this topic.

Developing a Windows 7 image for multiple hardware sets is definitely doable, and FOG can collect and deploy the image just fine. What you want to look into is sysprep for building the image to support various hardware. I don’t build images myself these days, ITIL seems to want separation between the builder and the tester, so I don’t know any guides offhand, but sysprep is the way to go.

Thank you guys for the trailhead. Looks like I have some studying to do! This is probably one of those things that seems intimidating from the onset but once in the thick of it or when done, it isn’t too bad.
