Image task not going through
-
I’m a little confused. It looks like the FOG server doesn’t have any images from the only 12GB of used space while the images are showing they are much bigger. After you deleted the images did you re-upload the images to the definitions?
-
Well, I deleted all hosts and definitions, reregistered my host using USB FOS. IT IS NOT REGISTERING!!!
-
@JackieJack USB FOS is just a quick hack in case you cannot properly boot through PXE. But it’s not made for all the tasks. Looks like it cannot do host registration. We don’t put in much work into that as we want people to do PXE booting. Though you can talk to @george1421 to see if he can help you on the USB FOS.
-
@sebastian-roth I mean it was registering. But I did the copy password thing on .fogconfig and now just errors.
My organization does not allow PXE booting.
-
@JackieJack Then please post a picture of the full screen where you see the
Invalid: command not found
error. We only see half of it in the picture… -
@sebastian-roth Right, whole picture is good lol.
*Attempting to register host… Already reistered as 64006a699641
BUT! My FOG management console shows no such host!If you want more screenshots (actual screenshots) let me know.
-
@jackiejack But it looks like that is registered from the screenshot. The T1700NextToMe. Is that device still registered?
-
@themcv Nothing in hosts | list all hosts. It was in ‘list all host’ this morning with the red icon. That red icon said host cannot be found. So I thought I would delete all the host defs, image defs, and start back from scratch. Now, the ting not even coming up!
-
What’s under the host management page? Task list all only shows “active” hosts.
-
@tom-elliott That’s the thing. Host management | List all host shows absolutely no host.
-
@jackiejack Is there a “Pending Hosts” link?
-
-
@jackiejack Well Look there sir.
-
It appears this machine was deleted, then somebody put it through quick registration potentially? Then tried doing a full registration? I’m only guessing. Pending hosts typically pop up because of the FOG Client installed on the machine checking in with the server. It will use the name the machine currently has associated to it at the time it checks in to register, which in this case appears to have been its mac address.
-
@tom-elliott Deleted hosts, put fog service smart installer, tried quick regist but not full.
So, uninstall fog service, delete pending host and re-register?
-
@jackiejack Just delete the host and reregister, before deleting the pending host, just power off the machine so it doesn’t accidentally pop back in.
-
@tom-elliott Deleted smart installer and all hosts and images and all pendings. Re-registered host. Re created image. Associated host with image. Same error. Task not going through. Red icon by hosts, image no valid data. The host restarted no problem.
-
@jackiejack I’m so confused.
Why do you keep deleting all hosts and images, all pendings.
Just delete the host in question.
What image is associated? You are doing capture or deploy? Did you capture the image first?
-
Red icon is just “Ping Hosts” this has no bearing on the ability to image.
-
@tom-elliott Doing a capture
After I created an image, I go back to my host and click host image and choose the image definition, update. Then hosts, capture image to create task. Then USB on host, and choose deploy/capture.I even tried a brand new host - a windows 8.1 old dell. New host, new image def (win 8.1), associate, no smart installer, capture task, USB host capture, it goes well then when host reboots, FOG server task still swirling. No valid image data.
(I keep deleting everything so I would start back from scratch/noob fears)
