Why can't i clone this laptop of mine

This is the situation, after 5 years not looking into FOG, i made 1 64 bit Pentium laptop into a Ubuntu 14.4 server and installed successfully fog on it back in januari this year. I use my Windows 2012 DHCP server, which by the way works flawless, even the server option 66 and 67 are present, but the my old HP Pavilion laptop does not go further than the rolling character /-|/-| (can’t animate it here)
Well, this laptop i put aside, and went on with other things.Well. After a few months i was able to clone another pc in my network i got from a friends dead father (rip), Windows 7 home… Flawless…
Then i wanted to clone my laptop i3 Windows 10 running on a ssd, that runs perfectly by the way, but cloning… not. I still get this message that the OS is not completed and that updates or something preventing the disc to start cloning…
Now i am not a expert on Linux, everything i did until now i found on the internet, great help by the way, but this i can’t resolve. I go look for the message
The disk is in a unclean state - could not mount it, it is giving me an option but i do not know where to put the option…
Remember, i updated and shutdown this laptop several times with no problems. So telling me to shutdown properly is not true.another Q: (Does anybody knows, does the UBUNTU version 16.04.2 LTS works with FOG??? The before version 16.04 did not work, and i had it reinstalled 3 times to get it right…

/offlinescanandfix then Restart.How did you shut down Windows 10?
There’s Shutdown, then there’s SHIFT+Shutdown; the latter is what you want.
I’m not trying to insult you. This trips up lots of folks.

We can help you if you provide a bit of background details. What version of FOG do you have installed?
Ubuntu has made some changes recently that is causing FOG some pain. Those pains are documented here: https://forums.fogproject.org/topic/10006/ubuntu-is-fog-s-enemy
The windows 10 issue is that windows must properly close the hard drive so there are no open files. With Win10, a shutdown is not a true shutdown, its rather an enhanced sleep mode. I will dig into the two links you send…(although i knew that Fog, who really likes only Linux, runs best on a server platform, so i provide this but not knowing that the os that makes Fog great is biting back.)
Ok, read most things in the links… first link was not a real eye-opener, as i earlier looked into this fog habbit on other platforms, i did it back then on VM. Now that is not the way, pure install, and only for Ubuntu with fog.
Second link was also not the case, i do not see a cloning program, it does not even get out of the pixie-boot from FOG. It reports in that black and white letters that the disc is not mounted. So this is not in the cloning process, it thinks that the disc is not there, and yet it is, otherwise why would it error in not mounted…It says …or mount the volume with the RO option… -
So for clarification:
Some of your systems work fine (except for the imaging portion due to “could not mount” errors).
This HP Pavilion laptop doesn’t like to PXE boot at all and, based on the information I’m gathering, is not receiving DHCP at the based PXE Boot screen.
Can you provide pictures of the errors you’re seeing so we can more appropriately troubleshoot this?
I know there was one set of HP systems that had problems PXE booting and this was/is due to Firmware issues. They (HP) never published a newer version of the Firmware so it still would have problems.
FOG Works perfectly fine with Ubuntu 16.04.

@avandel The other thing we need to define on these laptops are they running under bios (legacy) mode or uefi mode. Each mode requires its own iPXE kernel. The bios systems will probably use
undionly.kpxeand the uefi system will probably useipxe.efi. They are not interchangeable. Since you have Windows 2012 dhcp server you can configure it to send out the right file name based on the pxe booting computer.So we can help you, pick one computer that doesn’t pxe boot and image and we will help you determine what is wrong. If you add 2 and 3 with different issues we will get lost very quickly.

You say that it does work perfectly on Ubuntu 16.04, but i am aware that if it doesn’t all my effort is gone, i have to reinstall the server again.
The HP is not important, so stay far away from that one with all suggestions, it was a failed attempt i had a few months back but got the image already. I am now focussing on my Asus i3 with SSD harddisk that does not like or won’t get mounted by Fog. Before there is any program running via pixie-boot, there is this connecting screen in black with white letters, that screen i am talking about, there it stalls into a error and will automatically boot in 1 minute, over and over … -

If you read correctly, i did say that the HP pavilion was out and not interesting anymore for this problem. It showed only the ongoing progress i made earlier. That said, the i3 Asus laptop with the Solid State Drive (SSD) could not get mounted… But ok, i see that you get confused, but the problem remains. Is there anyone who successfully managed to clone any SSD??? (With FOG ofcourse). -
@avandel Ok now we have a single system we are interested in.
You say you have an Asus Laptop with a SSD drive. Lets focus on that. Before I get into a few questions, let me tell you there are 2 different types of SSD drives. You might want to research which one you have. FOG 1.3.x and newer can support both types. The first SSD type is a SATA attached drive. The drive interface is the same one used for older rotating hard drives. The newer type of SSD is NVMe drives. The are all solid state with a non-sata interface. These drives are configured differently than traditional SATA drives.
With that said you have an ASUS laptop.
What model is it?
Is the laptop configured for bios (legacy) mode or uefi? (new computers designed for Win10 are typically configured for uefi. You can look in the firmware and it might tell you which configuration it uses)
If the laptop is in uefi mode, be sure that secure boot has been disabled. This is mainly a microsoft only feature. Secure boot being enabled will stop the pxe booting process, unless you are pxe booting a microsoft operating system. -

@sudburr How in the **** could i have missed that… It is running now. So shutdown with the shift i totally forgot and worked for me…
