Description
I have successfully deployed the fog client with pdq deploy to all our machines that havent been registered. I am wondering if there is a way to get it to pull a full inventory
read on them? -
Only by queuing an inventory task via the web interface - or by imaging.
An inventory task involves a reboot - and booting to the network first. If your hosts are not configured to boot to the network first and HDD second, do not do this - you will cause a reboot loop.
Imaging - just chill out about the inventory, and you’ll slowly get it as you image hosts in your environment.
The important thing is you have the client deployed and all your hosts registered. That’s a big accomplishment. From here, you decide if you want all your hosts to network boot first by default. This is how I configured the environment at my last job. I had a building of 500 systems and every one of them had the network set as default boot device. It made imaging so easy - I didn’t even need to be in the room to say “This lab, image now.” Then I walk over there casually to just observe the process and take care of any stragglers/issues. It beats running around like a monkey manually turning on systems and hitting F12 a bazillion times to image stuff.

Only by queuing an inventory task via the web interface - or by imaging. Was exactly what I was looking for. As far as the rest goes I have been using for for 6 years so I am very comfortable with everything else, just never had to push the client out to pcs.
