      Server
      • FOG Version: RC-26
      • OS: Ubuntu 14.04.5
      Client
      • Service Version: 0.11.5
      • OS: Windows7
      Description

I just migrate my fog server (upgrade RC-10 to RC-26). migration was ok

Now, I wish to export my database fog server but I can’t . No login works.
However , In my terminal with command line , I can connect to my databases (root and fogstorage account) Grants ALL privileges on my database “FOG”
Do you have an idea ?

Else, My fog server is perfectly functional. (capture, deploy, snapin…) I was just an error before after capture (Reattempting to update database…Failed)
I fix it because I haven’t good rights in my Images folder (chown and chmod )

Second question : How could I Install phpmyadmin (to manage my database with graphical interface) ?
I did apt-get phpmyadmin but ubutnu install phpmyadmin with php5 lib . So My fog server doesn’t work after that (I had to uninstall phpmyadmin and apache)

      Thanks for your answer
      Have a good day

@Jo2220 not strange in the least. Db credentials should always be separated from web credentials. Unix login account should be different from db and web credentials. Using the fog GUI login as your db credentials would lead to significant security issues. Imagine. If you will. Fog db, web, and Unix login were all the same.

All an attacker would need is a single pair of information and your server would be compromised.

Web GUI issue? Please check apache error (debian/ubuntu: /var/log/apache2/error.log, centos/fedora/rhel: /var/log/httpd/error_log) and php-fpm log (/var/log/php*-fpm.log)

@Jo2220 Um, what? Sorry I don’t know what you mean.

There’s two database accounts. One is “root” and on a “default” install the password is just blank – which should be changed by the administrator of course.

The other account is fogstorage and its information can be found in FOG Configuration Page -> FOG Settings -> FOG Storage Nodes -> FOG_STORAGENODE_MYSQL{USER,PASS}.

              The password

When i install phpmyadmin , The system offers me to install librarys and dependencys like php5.
If I choose Yes , fog dosen’t work. (Apache service is crashed and can’t restart anymore.)

                  Don’t.
If you need a GUI, use HeidiSQL. Connect with the fogstorage user and it’s password, found in FOG Web Interface -> FOG Configuration -> FOG Settings -> FOG Storage Nodes -> FOG_STORAGENODE_MYSQLPASS Use SSH tunnel in HeidiSQL if the default MySQL settings don’t work.
                  http://www.heidisql.com/

But really, I’d advise you to get used to using the command line interface of MySQL, it’s easy if you know SQL.

FOG allows this to be done one way: via the web interface.
Web Interface -> FOG Configuration -> Configuration Save -> Export

Anything else is out of the scope of FOG. Can it be done, sure. Is it easy? Of course. Is that the recommended way to do it for FOG? Nope. Use the web interface’s export feature.

Also, root by default has access to everything. Exporting via CLI is quite simply mysqldump -u root -D fog > fogDB.sql ---- AGAIN, that would be the hard way. I myself prefer the easy way (web interface).

Thank you Wayne. I am agree with you. I will use now command line to manage mysql.
This will be the opportunity to improve my knowledge in sql 😉
