fatal error: could not remove old partition (/bin/fog.download)
-
Ubuntu 14.04
Running Version 1.3.0-RC-10
SVN Revision: 5955Nothing Special. XP single disk. Have not used this image for a few months but was working prior to RC updates the last few weeks. Other images (Windows 7) are deploying fine.

The failure point is at “Removing Partition”. It’s not even at the point of imaging yet. It can’t delete the partitions on the local disk. I suspect a bad HDD.
Is the HDD new, or zero’d out with DBAN or something?

Tired getting a hold of the tech but I know he did it on 2 different machines. Old HDs. Nothing done to the hard drive. Should just have XP installed on them. We don’t do anything special with wiping. But I will tell him to redo a known working machine and see if it’s because the hard drive is failing on those devices which might be the reason why he wanted to image them in the first place. Will post back.

Just talked with the tech. 3 different machines that had Windows 7 on them. He is going to grab another known working HD and try again. He is also going to take a HD and remove any partitions and try that again. With all the other issues with FOG lately I feel like this might not be a HD issue.

@UWPVIOLATOR all what issues with fog? Most of the “issues” reported have nothing to do with imaging. What I susprct is you are trying to put windows XP on a disk that had windows 7. While it certainly should be possiblr it isn’t a normal “test case” if you will.
-
True. I work with @ablohowiak and he has been working with you regarding the server load issue. Since RC8 or 9 we have not been back to stable so it’s hard to figure out what is causing what.
I am still waiting for the tech to test your theory. But if he takes a known working XP HD and reimagines it and it fails then we know it’s not the hard drive which is what I have a feeling it will do. We have in the past taken any HD and applied this image through FOG with no issues.
We are also seeing issues of timeout on boot for imaging task. So it may take 1 or 2 reboots before it fully PXE boots to proceed.

That’s related to the load issue.

I believe I found the issue why the system was unable to image from windows 7, I suspect your Windows XP system will image without issue.

I’ve updated the inits, so if you re-run the FOG installer, you should have the hopefully fixing init’s.

@Tom-Elliott
Re-running the installer worked, Thanks! -
So xp imaging is working again?

@Tom-Elliott
Yes, I’ve had confirmation from the tech.
