@Wayne-Workman Thank you I really appreciate it. I have been working on it for a few days now and have already looked at the links you included. Just to give you a little background on what’s going on, I have Xenserver 6.2 that a previous employee (no longer with the company or reachable) setup with Ubuntu Fog 12.o4 LTS and Zentyal as the domain controller. I need to be able to image pc’s that are on an existing domain without pulling the pc’s off of that domain. I guess I need to make Fog part of that domain some how. Can we communicate over the phone?

@nvb3 said in New to Fog setup and need help:

Strictly going on exactly what you said without deviation - the only way to image a client without it EVER being off domain is to have a 1:1 image ratio, and having an individual unique image for every computer - which means uploading an image from every single computer you have.

I’m Guessing that’s not what you want, and you simply used the wrong words.

General steps for imaging no mater the solution (fog or other) would recommend not joining the reference image to the Domain before image capture.

The way fog joins computers to the Domain is with the fog client, which is installed on the reference image before capture.

You would input credentials valid for domain joining into the fog web interface and would then set hosts to join the domain after imaging.

Methods for the above vary depending on the version of fog you’re using.

Also, I don’t think I would want to call in this scenario. Fog is open source, so too is support. If you had a very unique issue I’d consider it - but even then I’d always report back on the forums what was discussed.

If you would like to ask questions to your hearts content, the upcoming FOG Hangout 3 on Thursday is where to do it, and we will gladly answer any questions there.

Personally, I would setup a test FOG environment just get FOG working.
I was in the same boat quite a number of weeks ago.
Setting up FOG on your established network will be tough to get right.
                    Use the standalone approach firstly.
It probably took me 40 to 50 hours of work to get a solution.
Last week using my Fog server , I was able to image 50 PCs in Win7 Sysprepped mode ready to join the domain.
My breakthru was seeing FOG actually working when I used a VMbox setup on my own PC following a YouTube tutorial.

                    good luck
