FOG - advantages, drawbacks
-
Hello everyone,
I’m working on a project for an internship, and I have to set up a PXE server so that computers can boot on the image (Windows XP customized with softwares and updates) stocked on that server and launch Windows XP.
I have to find the advantages and drawbacks of FOG compared to Clonezilla Server Edition, but there’s not a lot of data
Can someone help me out please? Thanks -
FWIW, they were pretty close based on my search criteria. FOG got the bump for the post-imaging support (FOG client, snap-ins, etc.) and the generally prettier/easier to use web interface (which is good for us for a variety of reasons).

Yeah, the web interface is pretty much the only thing I had found

And the mobile side is excellent as well, im not sure if Clone Zilla has a Boot menu like Fog but this too me is GREAT and very useful… im pretty sure there are much more things but i havent really used Clone Zilla so i wouldnt be able to compare
-
What do you mean by “mobile side”? i’ve never used FOG yet
-
you can Access Fog from your Mobile device…

Oh nice

Only iPhones/iPods? or Android phones as well? (I can’t acess this link)
-
it even works on the CRaberry 8520 lol so trust me it works on all the others, if you IP is not open to the “internet” then you will obviously have to connect to your works wireless if there is and thats how you can access it

Do you know the minimum system requirements? I can’t find them on the site
-
Even Blackberrys, wow
-
that i dont know, but im assuming any smartphone can do it
-
For the system requirements, I was talking for the computers I know Clonezilla needs for example 196Mb of ram.
-
i didnt even know there would a requirement for the client machines, Well if there is im lost there, i have machines that work , but seriously if there is requirements i dont know what they are but i’ve been using Fog for a while now and my lowest Spec machine was a Pentium 4 with 256mb’s of Ram and it worked

Yes, I don’t think it’s needs top of the art computers ^^ It was just to compare properly both softwares
