Hello there,

I tried to upload a XP-Image on to the Fog-Server, but I just get a black screen after the connection is finished. There is a error with no chip? or something, it goes to fast so I cant rly read it.

Does somebody know this problem?
I didnt find something in the internet.

Try use the 0.29 kernel and you might need irqpoll kernel argument for better speed.

I am having the same issue. did you use a different kernel for the entire fog installation or specific to the upload you were doing. I know how to specify a kernel for a certain host but I can’t even get through quick registration as it stops at tps65010 no chip? Can you help?

Manually register the device. After it’s registered, specify the custom kernel options, and created a new task to perform the upload. The registration ONLY uses the default bzImage kernel and ignores custom kernel settings because of the way the PXE boot options are specified. When you create a task for a unit already registered, it will use the custom kernel.

If your non-defaut/custom kernel works for everything else, just make a backup of the original bzImage and rename the non-default kernel to bzImage. Make sure you chown and chmod so the new file is the same as the original as far as owner/group and permissions.

Thank you. That worked. It’s a latitude 6410 and not sure why it didn’t work as our 6420’s are champs. This worked although it goes slower than the 6420’s. Thanks for your help.

Ran across this topic as I was getting the “tps65010 no chip?” on an e6410 as well. I ended up flashing the BIOS from A04 to A09 and then it PXE booted on the 0.32 default kernel.

We get a lot of those kind of ‘no chip’ messages when using FOG on several of our Dell desktops. They’ve never stopped anything from working however so I tend to just ignore them 😛

Can confirm the bios update worked for me. Thanks for the tip!

Was having the same issue with a E6410, flashed the BIOS and was finally able to image the machine with the latest kernel.

I should mention that the ‘no chip?’ error still shows up, but it is able move past it. Also, I get many ‘USB enumeration’ errors but I don’t know if this is related. Main thing is that I’m able to image it : )

I´m sorry to reopen this old thread but i have a bunch this laptops compaq 6910p. I can upload an image without problems but deploying an image fails with a kernel panic.

Maybe someone can give me the FOG ID of the kernel from the “Kernel Update” menu i need. i´m already tried a few kernels with no luck.

The SVN Version 2272. But i belive i fixed it. i used the default bzImage and unicast create/deploy image is working. only multicast is not working but i thinks its better to discuss this in the other thread 😉
