Clean installation of fog 1.2.0 pxe problem
-
what kind of networking equipment is between the client and the server?
-
An H3C switch. The client is a virtual win 7 pro box on a hyper-v server in the same rack as the new ubuntu server.
-
I’m heading home for the weekend. Can we resume this on tuesday?
-
Is the IP address pointing: option 66, at your FOG Server?
-
Yes sir
-
Is this a fresh install of the OS too? Did you turn off iptables/firewalld/ufw/selinux?
-
It is a clean install of the OS. I tried to run the commands that I found to disable selinux and the system told me it was not installed or already disabled.
-
Have you tried DNSMasq?
I recommend this a lot
It really helps to resolve to your bootfile and server, it can fix the issue that you are describing, I had to use it in my environment (Novell with Windows DHCP and WDS) so that my machines would default to FOG instead of the silly WDS server.
I would start here: http://fogproject.org/wiki/index.php/Using_FOG_with_an_unmodifiable_DHCP_server/_Using_FOG_with_no_DHCP_server#DNSMASQ_settings_for_iPXE

Thank you to everyone for your help. I solved the problem by starting over.
I dumped the ubuntu server, fog install and all the changes I made to DHCP/DNS and started from scratch with a virtualized ubuntu desktop install. Followed the Chuck Syperski youtube install from there. What ever the issue was it is gone now and I don’t have the ubuntu server driving me crazy.
Thanks again,

Glad you got is sorted, sometimes, a fresh install isn’t such a bad idea (even if you JUST installed fog)
