Problem deploying to Lenovo Thinkpad E531

Hello to all. I recently set up a FOG server on top of Ubuntu Server 12.04 and have it running. I’ve been able to get the fogservice and fogprep installed without problem… have been able to get hosts registered, created new images, associate them with hosts just fine. I’ve also had no problem uploading images… and after my first image was uploaded, I modified FOG’s compression setting without problem (and subsequent uploads have uploaded fine).
My first image, on a Lenovo Thinkpad E531, was pre-sysprep. My second image was post-sysprep. I even got it to deploy the first (pre-sysprep) image back down to the SAME laptop and then rebooted back into Windows pre-sysprep perfectly.
HOWEVER, when I try to deploy any of these images to another two Lenovo Thinkpad E531 laptops, it downloads fine and FOG gives the impression that all is well until the laptop reboots. Once it reboots, it hangs with a blinking cursor in the upper-left corner of the screen.
All of these Lenovo laptops were purchased at the same time.
Out of curiosity, I rebooted one of these re-imaged laptops using a Ubuntu Server USB installation I have. I’ve verified that the partition table on one of the re-imaged laptops matches that of the “original” laptop (where the image was uploaded from)… the partition sizes are an exact match, correct OS IDs, and the correct partition is set as the boot partition. Rebooting back to hard drive again brings me back to the blinking cursor in the upper-left corner of the display.
I looked through the FOG forum and didn’t see anyone reporting a problem re-imaging the Lenovo Thinkpad E531 laptops… so I’m reaching out for help and ideas.

IF you are using FOG .32 you need to format the drive as MBR, not GPT.
IF you are using FOG 33B then you need to sysprep the image and it will work.

Also be cognisant of the kernel. I know my kernel’s don’t always work on All lenovo’s but there is a kernel floating around the forums here that seems to work well for troublesome kernels. As BPSTravis states, also verify the Drives are in MBR if you’re using 0.32. This does require a little extra work on your part, but ultimately will help you in the long run.
