Go to your Fog web ui, Other Information, Fog Settings, and find the TFTP Server section. YOu’ll need the FOG_TFTP_FTP_USERNAME and FOG_TFTP_FTP_PASSWORD values.
Go to Fog web ui, storage management, All Storage Nodes, and click on defaultMember. Make sure your management username matches the FOG_TFTP_FTP_USERNAME from the other screen. Same with Management Password and FOG_TFTP_FTP_PASSWORD.
Update, go back to home screen, see if you can connect to the defaultMember.
If you still have issues after this, we’ll continue, but try this to get rid of the errors about connecting to the storage node.

Unfortunately that didn’t do the trick : ( I changed them all to be same as what is found in ‘commons/config.php’. I wasn’t aware that these setting were in two places.
I should mention that the Apache error log gets about 100 ‘PHP Notices’ every time I load a page. The ones I mentioned in the previous post are just the last two and correspond to the “Failed to Connect to DefaultMember” error. I figured they’d all be related though.

Silly question: Do you have the right IP address for your storage node “defaultMember” in the StorageNodes definition in the Web UI? I think this is stored in the mysql database and may not be pointing to the right server since you are recovering onto a new installation.
-
LOL!! Jeez. I had two gateways defined in /etc/network/interfaces! Took it out and now we are good.
Feeling stupid … Thank you so much!

I just had this problem when upgrading FOG from 0.30 to 0.32 though in our case the cause was different.
In our case, we are using 2 interfaces, one on our main network, and the other on a private network used just for imaging. The ‘Failed to Connect to DefaultMember’ error on the dashboard was due to a combination of having a private (non routed) subnet for imaging, and configuring a http proxy in FOG. The problem is that the ‘Fetch’ command defined in commons/functions.include.php and used to get the /fog/status/hw.php page for the StorageNode will try to use the proxy to access the private network IP (which of course is not accessible via the proxy).
Our workaround is to remove the proxy configuration, and the dashboard error disappears.
For a proper solution, is there any way to configure the proxy for internet access, but not use it for accessing the StorageNode URL?
It seems that in 0.30, the StorageNode URL was fetched using curl, and did not use the FOG proxy settings - this behaviour has changed in 0.32 with the introduction of the Fetch command which always uses proxy settings if they are available.

I face the same issue. I just setup a new FOG server and it keeps telling me the same thing. I have checked the username, fog and password. They all match. IP for DefaultMember is correct.
Any Idea?

Eddieduce, please start a new thread and post your relevant setup information such as FOG version, OS version, how many FOG servers you’re setting up and what type of installation you performed (normal or storage node).
