    Since 16.04 is no longer supported, I was curious if it was worth the effort to update my FOG Server from 16.04 to 20.04.

    Is Fog Project still supported on the newer versions? I don’t want to break my current server. I’d rather just disconnect it from the internet permanently than update it and break the software.

      @cdutko Since that is such a large jump and you seem to have reservations, I might recommend that you spin up a new fog server on 20.04 and then reinstall FOG. As long as your 16.04 and 20.04 versions have the same versions of fog, you can migrate your configuration over from old to new.

      Creating a new fog server would give you some fall back stance if for some reason your 20.04 install would fail for some reason.

      Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. It's not just about coding - way more we need people to test things, update documentation and most importantly work on uniting the community of people enjoying and working on FOG!

        @george1421 I might give that a shot.

        https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Ubuntu_16.04

        Have the installation procedures changed much since this article was written? I assume most if not all of it is the same, but I figured I would ask now rather than run into issues later.

        As always thank you for your prompt response and information given.

          @cdutko The simplest way to do it is via this wiki page.

          https://docs.fogproject.org/en/latest/installation/install_fog_server.html

          Using the git method is real easy. Performing upgrades are even easier. But lets get things setup on the 20.04 server first then you can follow this wiki page: https://wiki.fogproject.org/wiki/index.php?title=Migrate_FOG

          The migration will leave the existing fog server in place but migrate (copy) the data over.

          Please help us build the FOG community with everyone involved. It's not just about coding - way more we need people to test things, update documentation and most importantly work on uniting the community of people enjoying and working on FOG!
