Custom kernel for ProBook 450 G8 - error 127 on makefile steps
-
Hi folks,
I’m trying to build a custom kernel based on the steps here, but when I get to the makefile steps I’m getting some error 127 stuff popping up. I’m well out of my depth here so I could be doing something completely wrong, just looking for some friendly advice. Screenshot:

Thanks!

@jacob-gallant I use a slighly different process to build one-off kernels that works with linux 5.15. But I have to ask the question, what are you trying to solve by making a custom kernel? What is missing in the FOG delivered kernel?

@george1421 Sure, we had new ProBook 750 G8s arrive that we could boot with. Here’s where we stalled at: https://photos.app.goo.gl/EbG6kTro1eAJStR67
Tried all the latest kernels and had no luck.

@jacob-gallant OK new kernels won’t help at that point before the iPXE menu is displayed. I can help you get started with custom kernels but that effort won’t fix the issue.
Please follow this tutorial on compiling the latest version of iPXE.

@george1421 Thanks, I’ll look into that. No need to provide the custom kernel info if that isn’t what I need.

@george1421 Thanks george, that did the trick.

@Jacob-Gallant Great this is solved. Though I am still interested to know what went wrong when you followed the instructions on compiling your own kernel. Would you try again and post the error logs here?
