Let me start by saying that all the developers who donate their time to this project have my eternal gratitude. I also empathize with the fact that you all have jobs you get paid for, etc. But, is there any timeline for the release of 0.33? We need to move FOG to a new VM and if 0.33 is on the horizon, I’ll wait for that. If not, I’ll deploy 0.32 on the new VM and plan an upgrade to 0.33 when it comes out.

Thanks again for all your hard work on this project.

Steve, I can relate to your issue too. We are on 0.29 and have held back for almost a year waiting for 0.33 but have decided to upgrade to 0.32 by the end of this month. Windows 8 has been around for several months and full support is needed. Its a shame not many programmers from the community are contributing and helping these guys out.

Oh the answer to the timeline for the release question is surely, it will be ready when its ready!

re: ‘it will be ready when its ready!’ I wish my project management software had that as an option. 🙂

Don’t delay your new VM for FOG 0.33. I have have good luck with Windows 8 in FOG 0.32 so far. Using Vista as the image type and multiple-partition, single disk image types.

FOG 0.33 is a pretty big rewrite trying to make the code more modular, standardized, and easier to maintain. Unfortunately, it was being done mainly by BlackOut, and he is busy with other projects.

            Hi Chad,

How did you get Windows 8 to work with 0.32? I am trying to use 0.33 but it won’t allow me to upload images keep getting mounting errors/bad file descriptor issues.

Start a new support thread under Windows or FOG Forum and I’ll be glad to help. Just know what FOG 0.32 does work with Windows 8 as long as the disk is MBR and the computer can be put into legacy BIOS mode. If you are U/EFI and/or GPT, FOG will have issues. Also, you need to disable secure boot.

Hey Chad, any word on .31 working with Win8? I have not upgraded to .32 because most of the time I follow the if it ain’t broke don’t fix it motto. I just haven’t had time to test it with 8.

No, all my experience is with FOG 0.32 at this time. As far as FOG goes, the only thing different about Windows 8 is that I choose Windows Vista as the OS type and Multiple-Partition, Single Disk (non-resizable) for the image type.
