Windows 7 - Image Deployment - Stuck at Black Screen

may I recommend that you install virtualbox, and install windows 7 in there. it has snapshot features that make testing images a breeze and rather less time consuming. see tutorial section
as for the issue at hand i have not seen it myself. did you sysprep at all or only fogprep?

Virtual Box wouldn’t be a bad idea…
I only ran Fogprep. I was looking through the Tutorial/Information about Imaging with Multi-Partitioned HDDs and it recommend Fogprep.

yeah with virtual box just snapshot as you make changes, and pre-uploading the image. you can even let it reboot and sysprep etc as if you have deployed it (without the time of uploading it). if no errors great roll back to last snapshot and final prep and upload

Is there a Tutorial for the process you suggest? Since I am running this for a Company solution, I need things to run smoothly and quickly to avoid as much downtime as possible.

just to recap, you installed windows 7 and it ended up with 100mb + rest of drive as 2nd partition (os,
drive)this is how I install windows 7, but in the Image Definition settings I use the single partition image

not what I use anymore, but it works well. I now use a more ‘suited to my needs’ simpler solution myself. but still use vbox to create Universal image for multiple hardware

Let me load up one of the computers. I know that it has 3 partitions that are in the image. One is a recovery section, then the main OS; But I’m unsure on the third.
Luckily for me I don’t need to worry about different hardware. We are rolling out 200+ Identical computers. I’m going to go ahead and try a Single Partition Image like you have before and see if it accepts it then.

with 3 partitions it wont work, only 1. a single partition windows install. 2. (the MS default) 2 partition windows install will work with single partition image uploads.
fog doesn’t play well with manufacturer recovery partitions. always best to do fresh cd install. also you wont need recovery partition with fog

I’m having the same problem with the exact same model of computer, and I’m newish to FOG. We recently ordered these computers all with windows7 preinstalled.
This may be a silly question, but if I do a fresh install of windows 7 on the computer and upload a new image will I be able to image the computers with the 3 partitions?

I am assuming you mean that with a fresh install and default 2 partitions created by windows 7 install, can you the take the image up and deploy it to a computer of the same make and model that currently has 3 partitions?
If that is so, then yes you can. The partitions on the client computer will be deleted and you will end up with the same number of partitions that are on your image.
