Capture FOG image from USB key disk
-
So, I don’t know if it is because the question hasn’t been asked or because these keyword phrases are spammed from capturing Fog on a USB boot…
Is it possible to capture a usb based image? I seem to be able to deploy images from the Fog Server onto a usb based image, but when I try to capture via pxe boot, the app ends at the the stage of searching for the hard disk. This must be possible right?

I’m not sure I understand your question because I can read it two ways.
- You want to pxe boot into FOG and then deploy an image to/from a usb flash drive.
- You want to deploy a FOG image from a usb flash drive.
Can you explain a bit more about what you want to do? I’m guessing you are not a native english speaker. Could you explain what you want to do in english then your native language and I’ll try to understand better.

Please post a picture of that screen here. How would we know which keywords you mean.

Hi George, thank you for your response. Number 1 is what I’m trying to do. Specifically, I’m trying to figure out how to backup from usb.

If your intent is to capture/deploy from/to a usb device alone don’t use FOG. Use clonezilla, which is a standalone capture/deployment tool. You boot from a usb stick and then can capture / deploy to other portable media. No external server or network required with clonezilla. If you have a fog image that you want to deploy with clonezilla then deploy your fog image to a target computer and then turn right around without booting the target computer and capture with Clonezilla to portable media.
