Issues Imaging Dell Latitude 5500 Laptop (2019 Model)

I am having issues when trying to upload an image from a Latitude 5500 laptop. Everytime I go to Upload the image it errors out at the beginning and says “Cannot Find Disk on System”

This model was released in May of 2019 and the rest of the information I know about it is below

Intel Core i5-8265U Processor with Integrated Intel UHD 620 Graphics

8GB, 1x8GB, DDR4 Non-ECC

Hard Drive
M.2 256GB PCIe NVMe Class 35 Solid State Drive (Cannot actually find the model, its in Chinese)

Wireless
Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 9560 (802.11ac) 2x2 + Bluetooth 5.0

All the devices we use in our company are Dell Latitude Models, which all have been able to be imaged (Last model was Latitude E 5590). The main changes this one has is there is no legacy option in BIOS and the SSD is an m.2 NVMe, which uses PCIe instead of SATA III. However both are controlled by the Sata controller regardless. I have not tested a non NVMe m.2 or 2.5 inch SSD yet in the device.

My FOG is version 1.5.7 running on 18.04 LTS Ubuntu and I recently updated it with the latest Kernel

If I had to guess, your Dell machine is set to see your Drives in “RAID” mode.

You should be able to change the Sata operation mode from RAID to AHCI, which then FOG should be able to see the disks.

I would also have to agree with Tom, the combination of Dell’s with Intel disk controllers, UEFI, Linux and Raid-On mode keeps FOS Linux from seeing the disks behind the intel raid controller. Switching any of the combination out will allow the disks to be seen by FOG. The easiest is disk controller mode from Raid-On to AHCI mode. You can leave it in AHCI mode if you are not running a raid configuration or change it back after imaging is complete.

Hi everyone,

I have the same problem, but when i switch in AHCI mods i can run fog setup and do a “full host registration and inventory”.
My pc appear in the “list all host” option in the web interface but when the machine reboot and i go to fog setup i found “this host is not registered message”. I try to capture the OS but i can’t if the registration doesn’t work.
I also noticed that during the registration process in hard drive step fog don’t detect the memory size of the disk.

My pc is too a 2019 dell laptop with ssd nvme.

Sorry for bad english im a frogger.

Does anyone know why i get this error?

@Deps I would recommend if your setup is not exactly the same as the OP in this thread that you open a new thread.

We will need more information on what type of computer Mfg and Model, what version of FOG are you using and what FOS Linux kernel are you running.

From your description, it sounds like the target computer is not registering correctly or the network adapter’s MAC address is changing between registration and the next reboot.
